Soulstrutter
Was searching for something on YT and was 'horrified' to find this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsBiimYAAHg and then this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pK8MeaZY84 .... What's this Shaky .... The Soul Years A prime example of of how 'pop' singers murder soul tunes. I 'knew' I shouldn't have looked but you know how it is .... curiosity ... I mean how BAD can it be? ... the sad thing is I looked them up and both made Top 30 Pop charts 87/88 !!!! Mcqueen2649
along the lines of sob/ann nesby how bout blowin' my mind--solo another great jam / lewis prod. looking for a love--Adriana Evans and Why cant we be lovers--Holland / Dozier only just scrapped into the top 30 because good ole uncle tony blackburn pushed it on Radio 1 every morning back in the day, still sounds original and fresh today. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Soulstrutter
Slightly off topic but not sure where else to put it ... stumbled across this cover of one of my fav Marvin Gaye songs and was quite surprised by it! Noddy Holder does soul ... off their debut LP when they were Ambrose Slade (which must be quite rare as sells for silly money - 4 on Discogs for between £400-£1600). See what you think ... I've heard much worse believe me! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5eiQaAWpX0 ... and while in Blue-Eyed mode how about this ... well if Sue Lynne still gets played ... anything goes!!!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_YstPfqBlg Link to comment Social source share

Mike
bit lost again with these audio topics with this one i don't really get how or why listening to soul records can be classed as a 'guilty pleasure' sure some of the worst uk pop excesses posted earlier on this but for example the above George Jackson? so as this topic is a bit confusing (and not working imo) - am closing this and ask post the soul in the main soul audio topic and as for the non soul 'guilty pleasures' perhaps best just give posting them a rest for a while Link to comment Social source share
