Baz. So true my friend.  It also made us the people who we are now for better or worse.   And was the start of many friendships that are still going strong now and a love for this music that has never died

Bang on mate instead we get a picture of a bootleg of Frank Wilson it saddens me Steve but does not surprise me !

Russ needed a copy of Frank Wilson to flash in the clip, but as there’s only two in existence, he had to improvise. As far as I’m aware, he has not stated he actually possesses a copy.

Sure I've heard him say in the past  he made a carver before letting his go.

So, did he actually own a copy back in the70’s? I know Soussan pilfered a file copy to bootleg the Eddie Foster cover-up - did this copy end up with Russ?

Soussan sent him some incarnation of it, because he was the one who had it first at the Casino.

And I heard him say at a later date that he made a copy before he let his go ( something he says he should never have done) I'm sure he said the copy he had he swapped for a thousand pounds worth of records at the time.

I thought Les McCutcheon lent it Russ before he sold it to Jon Woodliffe, that's maybe when he did it

All roads lead to DILYIID...

As only an occasional attendee of the Casino, I cant say I've ever thought the tune and the club being synonymous...

I think more afternoon of the rhino, rosemary what happened, and even where I'm not wanted, point first to wigan.

Problem is they are not known to the general public.

And why is the last night(s) even important.

Apart from sentimental punter tears, what records got broke that will forever be remembered as wigan classics?

Just feeling a little cynical as to the purpose of the programme subject.

Best viewed as an end of an era mini-documentary. Frank Wilson was one of a tiny number of records that crossed over into the public domain - as its value soared, the legend grew. If Russ actually played the tune out on an Emi-disc-carver-thingy, then such an artefact merits a place in the Wigan museum when the time comes. Whether records were first spun at Wigan or just popularised there, a little bit of information to educate the public is not a bad thing.

He never owned it.  Soussan sent acetates over.  Les McCutcheon Bought Simon’s collection which included DILY.  It was then sold to Jonathon who sold it to Kev who I believe then sold it to Tim.

The copy in the clip last night looks like an emi/acetate/carver with a photocopied label.

Jon swapped it with Kev for a load of LP's and Demos (12")

Wonder what the interest/ value of the acetates sent over would be today then?

How many got sent, who got one, what's happened to them?

Has posted earlier definately remember Russ stating he "regretted letting his go".

have to say, considering this is all about the photo's, I'm not that impressed. They kept showing the same few shots and I don't see anything that the average punter wouldn't have captured. There's no reportage and its not really that creative IMHO, especially considering the significance of the event.

Nothing new then,  OK we got to know who 3 people were in a photograph at a last Wigan All-Niter as it was felt the need to track them down and identify them and talk to them, fair enough job done, nice guys who are still on the Scene enjoying and supporting the music. A nice touch when they were photographed together as they are now and they looked very happy about it and will obviously remember it all for a long time. Was it just an  "Inside Out" News Report or Something else that may be in the Pipe Line for future viewing, One for the Conspiracy Theorists to think about 😃  I thought i saw 'Captain Obvious' Lurking about, or did i ? 🙃

Indeed....closer inspection does show a sticky on label over a UK single....

Gawd forbid it's on top of the UK release and played out!

Ive got a fake soul copy that Frank did sign...guilty as charged.

I think it’s an Emidisc with scratches revealing the metal underneath. The stuck on photocopied label has peeled off at the lower left - nothing a dab of Pritt Stick can’t fix. The spindle hole for a USA record has been cut by a blunt pair of primary school scissors. This is a very rare case of a USA label being applied to a record. Bids starting at £10,000 for this one-of-a-kind piece of legendary memorabilia...

Rugby (Benn hall) 100 club .Notts boat club (and I'm sure new venue RAFA club)and other venues that look to the future (rather than sweat bands beer towels and baggy pants)there what the future is really about.had we relied on Mr winstanley to brings things until today it would never have happened !!at Wigan SOUL SAM got it rite.look at today Butch.andy Dyson .Ady croasdell. Mick H.carl fortnum.colin law.etc bringing quality to the table all those years on.so keep your tv shows.the above venues djs and this site will keep the rare soul scene going not crap inaccurate nostalgia.👍👍👍oh don t forget tomorrow nite "totally wired radio"with true legends Tony smith&Guy Hennigan who trust me the scene today has a lot to thank for his co tribution.oh thanks Mike keep up the good work 👍

Maybe a lookalikey mocked up for the clip? Nevertheless, a seriously important disc back in the day and of course, a big spin at the finale. Enjoyed the whole segment.

Looks like a UK Motown Copy (It has a black solid centre) with a poor photo copied label stuck on top !
