Sebastian
What an incredible waste of vinyl/money/effort. 3 Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
Not sure who it is aimed at with a £140 price tag? 2 Link to comment Social source share
Godzilla
We actually got asked for it in the shop but it's D2C only, so not available to us. I predict it will be with the discount wholesalers this time next year - and that's when we'll be offering cheap copies as we did with Chess 7s boxes last month. Tam La Motown
Audiophile quality vinyl... IN MONO? Link to comment Social source share

Yes the term audiophile is wrong as there is no such vinyl thing. Qualities of different plastics yes. The 180 grams is only to minimize warp/dish-ing of the "pizza" but more plastic doesn't mean better playback definition. Audiophile mastering and/or recording materials do exists though. And those limited records sell brand new in the £100's a piece. Still that is another matter mostly dedicated to "audiophile" music aiming for high-end phone gear$... But MONO in my world IS KING undoubtedly. STEREO is always a sound engineer process thing. MONO is natural and STEREO an illusion that I don't care for one bit even though many do feel strongly about it. Used to or addicted to... Was thinking at first just the same. But when it comes to Tamla group LP's there's IMO very few that are actually that fully exciting to listen to from beginning to end without suffering the "all time" classic that you do not want to hear home anymore or the filler tune that they found on reels that ruins the whole picture. Thinking on the spot of the Temptations 'with a lotta soul', Marvin Gaye 'what's going on' the Miracles 'cookin' with' that should be reachable to Joe Public as well as to connoisseurs. But for the rest they are either collectors/fans albums or keepers for the one or two tracks that didn't got a 45 release kind of LP's to own. phidan
'Sophisticated Soul' did originally come out in mono, in the UK. Link to comment Social source share

My point was mainly that ALL of these LPs originally came out in mono, and you could without much effort get original copies of all of these for less than the price of this box set. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Hooker1951
I used to have a solid pair of mono decks the sound difference playing mono soul records was fantastic louder, richer more full on if their was a violin playing 3 miles away in the recording you would hear it, ML 1 Link to comment Social source share
