i don't want to diminish the impact of this virus- OR- it's potential effects.....but on a lighter note (and i think we need one) and in answer to Zed1 maybe.....

there was enough 'Duro' in the old age punters to easily see of a virus named after a Mexican beer.

No reason why any should be.  Was that figure taking into account the people who have died or been born in the mins since you replied to my post.

Not particularly worried re the actual virus but Clare is concerned about the effects of panic buying.

We've got nowhere to store the 28 lawnmowers I bought last week.

Lots of my friends and even my immediate family have relentlessly taken the p*ss out of me for years over my O.C.D habits - Not touching door handles, using my knuckle or covering my finger with my sleeve when pressing lift or Pelican crossing buttons etc.  And I'm a long term fan of Antibacterial Gel.

Look who's having the last laugh now!  :D

So YOU'RE the one who's been buying up all the hand gel then!!!

Joking aside ... We are visiting Thailand at Easter so thought we'd better get some hand gel for journey to be on the safe side... none available (unless you want to pay ridiculous price) so looked for wipes instead. Last week on Amazon saw a pack of 6 anti-bacterial wipes for £18 the next day they were £79.99!!! 4.4 increase in price... and now they're sold out even at that price!  Move your shares out of tourism and travel and put them in hand gels/wipes & toilet rolls 😆  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dettol-Antibacterial-Surface-Cleaning-Wipes/dp/B01N16BG67/ref=sr_1_5?adgrpid=52505280719&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtOjyBRC0ARIsAIpJyGOfYg8fhDW7YMybEfGtfU7U9koIiesc1IdESaFV7vv_26zy0d05wQIaArezEALw_wcB&hvadid=259070539591&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1006506&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=21332760720

UPDATE: when I posted this link up earlier today there were none available but now (curiously) there are 2 left for £76.50 ... so better snap up that bargain!!  I get get the distinct feeling they are holding them back and drip feeding to create demand so they can charge what they like!!!

The Americans have a similar problem, they call it the bathroom which is fundamentally flawed, no bath involved. Its a tricky one😄

We live in a world of headline grabbing hysteria by the media, everything these days is a end of the world calamity be it weather, cars, schools,  NHS. ,flu, mad cow diesease remember that one. , sars was going to be the end of the world diesease,  so was Ebola,  only last week the papers where warning of a arctic blast lasting weeks and a foot of snow.

PS. Forgot to add that I'm supposedly in the at risk group aged 60+ and I have Asthma

You forgot the Millennium bug - company I worked for spent ages preparing for that, there were actual "millennium bug consultants" who'd charge you thousands to clean your company servers of the possibility. Planes were going to fall out of the sky, cashpoints spew out money, there were going to be power failures, fires, civil disorder etc. The world didn't end though.

I worked in IT at the time, there WAS a massive problem, it was fixed by the IT professionals, it had to be end of story. Companies don't spend countless millions on a  hoax. Consultants HAD to be used as many companies just didn't have the expertise or staff numbers to deal with the problem.

Gordon Bennett, the media in this country really do think people are thick. The Sky guy in China, where new cases are now as rare as rocking horse shit, was saying this was due to the authoritarian Chinese regime, plus other anti China rhetoric. Sky then cut to Italy and informed us that Italy, a true democracy by the way, was now in total lock down. I for one would like to think my government would be able to take ALL necessary measures as required, rather than one that CAN NOT or worse still DARE NOT, regardless of what type of government it is.

My son has lived in Taiwan for the last 20 years - they have been strictly checking temperatures on all new arrivals at the airports - anyone with a raised temperature has been escorted off into quarantine & as far as I know, all flights from infected areas are banned. Everyone is wearing a mask too. Even though it's a hugely overcrowded, bustling & polluted island just on China's doorstep, they've had no new cases for days on end now - still very low numbers at 45 in total & just I death.

Compare that to the UK - flights from anywhere & everywhere are allowed in unchecked & people advised to "self isolate if they feel ill"...……….Think I know which country has got it right...….

Just been checking out a map of the cases. The main centres, China, S. Korea, Iran and Italy, are all between latitudes 30/40 degrees N. Perhaps the weather, ambient temperatures etc. are big factor in this thing.

The news is full of this virus and its consequences. It's only a few weeks old.

Theres a budget tomorrow.

Will it be planned on the present or this report of about 4 months ago?

Who will pay the price? The rich or the poor.

We will all find out soon.

I think it's pretty safe to say the budget will be a non event of epic proportions due to excuses about the virus. The second line of defence will be the March budget is now only a mini budget, with the main one coming in November. I guarantee though, that he will still speak for the full hour, to say very little of any substance.

Well as my accountant always tells me...the devil is in the detail.

Reading between the lines will reveal the real agenda.

The Goverment needs a lot of money. Although borrowing at low rates is tempting, it's not as tempting as squeezing the citizens for a bit more, indirectly of course.

Coronavirus tax could be a whole new way of raising money....to help the NHS of course.

Dentists were free.....

Prescriptions were free...

We all know what's coming.....pay on the day? Or good value season tickets. I'm not talking about footy matches!!
