Football this Saturday....

The German Bundesliga becomes the world's first major football league to get back under way during the coronavirus pandemic this Saturday.

While countries like Belarus and Nicaragua have never stopped and others like South Korea and the Faroe Islands have recently restarted, the eyes of the world will be on Germany this weekend to watch elite teams in action for the first time in over two months.

Going to be interesting watching football that’s played behind closed doors .

I watched the recent UFC fight night in BT Sport, which was a bit eerie to say the least .. leg kicks and punches really audible ..at least we may not understand some of the language being used ..

Trust the Bundesliga to get things back working quickly ..

Thanks Simon for a comprehensive listing of all the games - BT sport then .

Behind closed doors is the best of some terrible options,  if liverpool fans can't witness the trophy being presented it will sadden me, no fan should be denied that.

Probably wise to not go via bet365 as you may find  by halftime you're losing your house on some Belorussian team who's name you can't pronounce that's literally a team of donkeys!

Looking forward to it.  Watched utd behind closed doors during their Europa leg. Does seem strange hearing the shouts between them and the  eerie clapping after any goals but it's weekend and football 😍

Have to say , and some may not agree , but this season is already over for me. It’s been a real pleasure to have watched us (LFC) build on last season and kick in and improve.

We should be crowned champs for sure ,  it’s been one of the most thrilling title challenges for us in 29 years ..and I was in the stands for the Arsenal last game of the season in 89 ... still have nightmares of Micheal Thomas .

Lets see what happens ..

The thought of this happening in 2016 when we won it would have done me, at least you'll get plenty of tries,  that was our one chance. 🙏

I cant believe how the authorities have moved heaven and earth to get sport up and running, when so much is stressed about social distancing.

I just hope it doesn't end in tears and regrets.

Have many people been watching these games? Has the lack of crowd detracted from them and is it just a case of owt is better than nowt?

I'd watch English footy, but not bothered about foreign stuff to be honest.

Just watched Dortmund v Bayern .. very different to watch .. and I’d say that not having a crowd can influence VAR decisions , because Dortmund should have had a stone wall penalty !

Some talent on view but game didn’t match the promise - and Bayern march on to possibly an 8th league title in a row.

I watched it too. Dortmund were robbed of a penalty. The ball was on line for the net and the replay clearly showed the player interfere with the ball in play. No way an accident hitting his shoulder ☹

No substitution for a full house in any ground, even Old Trafford ... so of course it detracts but at least they are trying to finish the season with some kind of resolve for all .

You are never going to please everyone , so some will claim foul play , and some will say the season should be written off .. The fact is that there is far too much money involved here , especially the Premiership, so they will have to find a way to wrap things up.

Wont be the same , but what ever will these days .

They are tested twice a week as well as temp every day. They can’t catch it from each other if they are all negative so social distancing in that scenario is a bit pointless.  Get stuck in.

If the way to end the season means no crowds well its the best of some bad options,  to be honest a lot of the joy of the season has gone for me but i definitely think it should be completed.
