a list of current scams you may have come across may be useful/helpful...?

below is a new one for me

by text message 

PayPal: We have limited your account due to safety concerns. Please visit xxxxx  before we are forced to close your account.

 

the link in the text gives it away, but its the first time had something via text like that from a uk number

You are very lucky Mike as I can tell you emails like that have been in my scam box for a number of years

There are some great sites showing scams especially for the older folks and Matin Lewis is good

 I think you yourself do need to be careful with these as it does seem on here that you do get things wrong a lot of the time

 

as said it's a text message not a email, hence the posting...

If you bothered to read the links Mike you will see that they are a mixture of the 2 (Texts and Emails)

I was simply explaining that the text you received was the same as the emails I and others have been getting for years so perhaps you misunderstood.

Paypal changed their protection protocols and you may be aware that they sometimes send a confirming text now for us all to access our accounts which was designed to increase security.

It appears that this system may have been already been compromised and I suggest that whoever gets one contact Paypal ASAP to inform them as they need to explain to them how this has happened as how on earth did a scammer get the phone number to scam them ?
