Rick, any chance you can avoid posting using title caps all the time?

As it does make reading your words just that bit harder

thanks mike

Cheaper than chips, so can get some scraps as well.  Some classic 60s soul from Sam and Dave.  I always think its amazing these two supposedly never got on as they sound perfect together.

I agree it did stand out and you are a stand out bloke Rick, but Mike is correct and we have to abide by his rules, as I found to my cost 😇

Don't start contributing to Discogs, as they get very very upset and all sorts of toys start getting thrown out of many many prams.

I still love this Washington DC sound but never found out who he was ?

Group who put down a lot of very good tracks. This one features a strong lead vocal from Miki Howard on top of some neat harmonies.

Well it's a lovely sunny morning in North Lincolnshire and first up on my turntable this morning is the wonderful Rick Baker (whom i know nothing about at all) other than this fab song on the 'B' side of 'Got You' (now kiss me in my mouth) on what i believe is the only Single on the  U S Marquette Record Label (and short at 1 min 58 secs)

For Those of you who are not aware of it i hope you Enjoy It and Love It as much as i do 🙂

That's one of the wonderful things about this soul thing, no matter how much you listen there's always something new to be found, this was new to me too, nice tune, cheers Ed

It takes a brave soul dj to push records outside the regular 2000...and I know the best djs do try and slip one or two into their sets.

For folks like me who realistically still only know about half the great tunes out there, even after 45 years of listening.....YouTube and the podcasts etc are the place to learn.

Every week on this thread there's 'something new to me'

Its great. Best thread on the site!

The two most famous or infamous covers have been tainted love and what.

Obviously re worked, but all the same I would have thought anybody covering any record would pick a tune that might sell a lot.

Since being quoted by Donald Trump...I'd have thought a rework of the snake might have done well!

This happens Quite often with our Music and can be so frustrating, big names involved with a wealth of Talent that record nothing else yet put out lovely music, disappear without a trace and we know nothing about them'

Quite Sad really.....

I was  big fan of LTD but must admit I haven't played any for ages until today when I started to upload some of their tracks to the PC.

This one wasn't played much at the time but sounded good to me today.

Nice!

I bought a demo of this 'other version' from an early mecca goer about 76, but have never heard it out. I think its good enough to get a recall!

One of the first records I got from soul bowl, absolute brilliant double sided, but never took off as far as I've known.

Joe Murphy...just so much soul in that voice.

Enjoy
