That Herman's hermits tune...ouch.

It gives that Paul Wnka when we get there a run for its money...

ok so where was that played then?

the later cover was weak enough to my ears

but surely no 'proper' northern venue would have allowed the herman h version anywhere near the decks..

am right yep?

According to Manship...about the Henry Boatwright version:

a lead-singer with SOUL BROTHERS INC. Henry Boatwright offers up a forgotten Cleethorpes Pier classic..

Maybe Herman's Hermits version was confused with this ? Or maybe some adventurous dj did bang it out somewhere?

Zoomsoulblue...where did you hear it?

As predicted you guys are offering up songs/records that not only would put someone off northern soul but music in general😂

also to mention my original post, the girl in question likes so far:

Gale garnet cry alone

timi Yuro be over for me

honey & bees dynamite exploded

but couldn’t stand: Jimmy Fraser hopes and dreams😳

You started it😛🤣. She has tastes though with the tunes you mention.  Jimmy Fraser is one of those you had to be around at the time it was played  records to like , just like some of the Casino stuff that has been mentioned

So had to be around 78/79/80 - I remember it being sold in record bars and maybe 1st hour set or even setting up system set - just because it was different or the same as HB - it’s 1968 so may have been played at the wheel 🤔
