Interesting to contemplate that 'Slav' literally means 'slave' and references the endenchered servitude of the peasantry in eastern Europe - perhaps there's some shared cultural memory that could enable them to connect deeply with black music given the opportunity (I personally believe there's a similar shared historic experience of oppression that gives Jewish people a tendency to connect with black music - be it as writers, producers, artists or consumers). Dx

That's what the only documentary I ever saw on the subject said.
Even if it's not correct, the cultural viewpoint still holds IMO. Dx

A simple search does show the term slavic to be connected to a common language style in Eastern Europe rather than anything to do with slavery.

Can't it just be this orchestra did a great cover of a brilliant song with all the bells and whistles thrown in? Wherever they are based.
