Deptford Northern Soul Club released a new release on their label DNSC Records on Friday – the release is 014 and is Sue Lynne ‘Don’t Pity Me’ / ‘Don’t Pity Me’ (Mono)

Following their 4th anniversary at the end of 2020, Deptford Northern Soul Club have announced the release of Deptford Northern Soul Club Records DNSC014 with Sue Lynne Don’t Pity Me/Don’t Pity Me (Mono) released in stores and online on Friday 26th February.  

The release follows their limited-edition vinyl boxset released in December, which features 12 7” records, exclusive patches, stickers and a 2020 Zine. The boxset is an exclusive and collectable release to mark a year since Deptford Northern Soul Club launched their label and four years since they began the first of their popular club nights and a limited amount are still available to purchase.

Their new record release is a remastered release of two stellar versions of Don’t Pity Me, the classic 1969 blue-eyed soul monster that was the flipside of Sue Lynne’s You single on RCA. A brass-powered stomper with a funky rhythm and backbeat that leads to a euphoric chorus and instrumental break, it was huge at Wigan Casino back in the day and original copies now goes for a huge £700 a copy. It is available from local record stores and online at Bandcamp here.

Launching the label in November 2019 in association with PIAS, the label’s first release was rare vinyl find Lester Tipton’s This Won’t Change, with a B-side of Edward Hamilton and The Arabians Baby Don’t You Weep. Both tracks epitomised what the label are all about; showcasing quality classic soul records in the way in which they were meant to be heard to both new and old soul fans.
