A grip full of across the board classics and semi-knowns proving that great soul doesn’t have to be 3 or 4 figures. Sound files and additional images available if you want. PM and questions or to reserve.

Barbara Mason – Bobby, is my baby – Arctic 120 Ex £50

(Same backing as the Rotations – Dime on D-9, and why not share amongst friends in the same Philly stable)

Bobby Black – Right on – Axis 117 M- £275

(Lovely piano intro to this finger popping, girly backed dancer out of New Jersey, owned and operated by Artus Sutterfield)

Funky Sisters – Do it, do it – Aurora 165 Ex £25

(Happy go lucky finger popper, with a bit of sass on the side)

Clay Hunt – Your loves gone bad – Bay Sound 67005 Ex £65 3xol

(Gritty, in your face dancer, see recently at 150, a giveaway)

Jackie Wilson – Who who song – Brunswick 55354 M- £20

(Jackie at his best, pace, tonsils and menace, what a tune. Biro XOL)

Otis Bush & Crusaders – So much love – Cha-Cha 766 Ex+ £40

(Rarer earlier release on the Cha Cha label, smooth group soul)

Bobby Moore – Chained to your heart – Checker 1180 Ex+ £12

(Boisterous intro that gets the adrenaline going, pounding beat that keeps the legs working throughout – a classic)

Sam and Bill – Trying to get back to my baby – Decca 32200 M- dh £20

(Beautiful black and rainbow stock copy of this superb mid-tempo vocals and what a catchy tune, don’t ignore, get it up on youtube)

Bobby Bland – Ain’t nothing you can do – Duke 472 Ex

(The sort of track that instantly mellows you out, typically Bobby “Blues”)

Spandells – Say no girl – Dimension 1041 WD M- £30

(Very catchy finger popping girly dancer, perfect surface, juts red pencilled wavy line either side of top side centre, when an X would have done!)

Fred Hughes – Walk on back to you – Exodus 1035 Ex+ £30

(Stunning example of cheaper end soul, twinkling ivories and anguished vocals)

James Carr – Stronger than love – Goldwax 332 M- £20

(Gritty R&B influenced dancer)

Spinners – Truly yours – Motown 1093 M-

(A top, top Motown tune, looking swell on the electric blue and map label)

Calvin Williams – Lonely you’ll be – Northern Del LA 501 Ex+ £75

(Brilliant vocals from one of Detroit’s finest, probably the best version for me)

Monzas – Hey! I know you – Pacific 1998 Ex £30

(Very rare first release, on Manny’s for 100, only the later 104 release shows up on Popsike)

Holidays – Loves creeping up on me / Never alone – Revilot 205 DJ Ex £25

(Fabulous double sider, not an easy to find DJ copy, writing on label doesn't affect 2 great sides)

Renaldo Domino – Don’t go away – Smash 2127 WD M- £35

(Sweet, punchy and undulating vocal, backed by superb harmonies and horns. Pre-Twi-night recording from this Chicagoan soulster. Great copy)

Brenda Holloway – When I’m gone – Tamla 54111 Ex £30

(A Motown standard, yellow twin globes label)

Roscoe Shelton - What is it baby - Tee Jay 8701 M- £75

(70s Roscoe was still doing the business with a mix of sweet crossover, hard to find)

Jamo Thomas – I spy (for the FBI) – Thomas WD Ex £25

(Raw original or cover of the Luther Ingram version on Smash, nice on demo, light ring wear)

Fred Hughes – You can’t take it away – Vee-Jay 703 Ex £20

(Subtly delivered male solo in comparison to the equally good but uptempo and so classy Azie Mortimer version, you’d think it would be the other way round)

PayPal as friends or add 4% please or I can send bank details
