I’ve decided that my DVDs are taking up too much room and it’s time to copy them to a hard drive.

Can anybody recommend some reliable software for doing this? Any free software recommendations would be especially welcome!

I would avoid anything Adobe, particularly now as their software is now 'subscription' i.e $9.99 a month. You'll need to have their Creative Cloud" on you PC for the 'free trial' and it's a devil to get rid of.

Wow! It certainly was, like you say I wouldn’t recommend installing that to anyone!

Media player VLC also has the ability to back-up DVDs, and it’s free.

Thanks, I’ll have a look at that one.

Yes, I had tried that on my laptop but it wouldn’t open. I’ve now tried it on the desktop and it works a treat. I just had to import a line of code into the program files to defeat the protection.

Hope you’re well Mal?

yes it's tricky to install that one, but once running its very good.  I used to rent Film DVD's from the Library for £2 and I'd immediately rip them,  only a few defeated handbrake!  the trick is to find the correct file to rip, size generally gives it away, but you might end up with a trailer or two when you first try this.

actually I think Handbrake its also a file converter, you know you get to pick the codex, but if you need a good file converter Switch has lasted me years, still going strong, very good to turn Wavs, into MP3's and all that..

Ive pm'd you mate..
