George M
Scroll down for scans & full audio taken from the copies for sale. (These are reductions from some of my previous lists.) Email ruralconcourse@yahoo.com to reserve. Grading: M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG / VG- / G (VG++ is used to mean the same as EX in UK Record Collector terms). Post prices are £4 UK recorded / £9 UK special delivery / £6 airmail to EU (cheap items only) / £7 rest of the world (cheap items only) / £12 tracked & signed service outside the UK. The mail system seems to be working well at the moment, touch wood, but If you want to buy something and fear it being trapped in the seasonal pile-up at the depots, just let me know and I can send in the new year if you prefer. Thanks, George Lee Fields “Tyra’s Song / You’re My Weakness” (A&T) VG £50 Storming dancefloor favourite, ballad flip. (Light warp not affecting play) Ray Lewis “Too Sweet To Be Lonely / Sitting at Home with my Baby” (D’Or) VG £40 Lovely midtempo crossover/ ballad, with swinging northern flip, both featuring strong lead & group backing. (Sitting side has two x’s on label) Helene Smith “China Melody / What’s in the Lovin” (Deep City) VG++ £135 Powerful darkside ballad, along with a solid funky northern side. (Very faint dish not affecting play, hard to see, visible just slightly when uptempo side is playing) True Direction “Standing By My Window / I Found A Lady (Gold Coin) VG+ £125 The first side here is a kind of dark & bluesy midtempo funky stepper with haunting synth, which comes highly recommended, while “I Found A Lady” is a pumping modern dancer. Still fairly obscure. (Dish not affecting play) Clifford McClain “I Can’t Fight It / Inst.” (McClain) VG++ £75 Excellent modern with a fresh, building sound; the vibe is homemade yet the net result is club-friendly. (Clean copy, pretty much M- but with a minor pressing swoosh before the music starts) Vontastics “I’ll Never Say Goodbye / Don’t Mess Around” (Satellite) VG £65 Excellent northern / crossover dancer. (A side has some ringwear at outer edge. Looks ok. B side has similar ringwear, wol, and fairly discreet tear at top. That side also has scuffing nap). The Positive Sounds “You’re The One I Need / I Almost Blew My Mind” (Shiptown) VG £475 Amongst the greatest of all group ballads – and one of Norfolk VA’s finest soul records, which is saying something. (Featured side plays great. Light tics on flip, check the full audio – still a pretty decent copy.) Barbara Stant “(You’ve Got To) Try It Again / (I’ve Found Me A) Real Man” (Shiptown) VG++ £85 Classic 70s double sider.
