I DJ'd here the first couple (1, 2 or 3?) before I had to call it a day for a while. The continuous weekends were killing me

I guess the others DJ'ing on the night were the usual suspects of the time (Croft, Harden, Brady, Mannion?) but I'd be intrigued as to who else was on the bill with me on the first few.

Can't help thinking Guy H. followed me on cos I remember talking to him about a Syl Johnson track I'd just played. Funny how small things stick all these years later - yet nowadays I can't remember what I've had for me tea!

Anyone got any early publicity leaflets (or adverts) with the lineup on?

Was just talking about Tony's empress on another thread and it got me thinking about favourite old venues and my personal favourite old venue Warrington Parr Hall. Ah the memories, the train trip from Oxford road, meeting your mates in the queue outside and catching up, orange ice lollies, sixties newies, SOS bootlegs...then the horrendous wait for the bus home in the morning (Sunday engineering works..nothings' changed since)... and cups of tea in the arndale cafe with Malcolm Talcum

You know loads of people say the scene died for years after Wigan but Parr Hall was always rammed every 2 weeks for a good few years. Did anybody on here go?

There's a picture of Doc White on here somewhere.

Yeah I remember Craig; curly hair - tash (oh hang on that could have any of us). Used to know John Cross as well, they also knocked around with a few lads from Stapleford (Bri??).

My grand dad used to sing in the Male Voice Choir at the Parr Hall.....

I met a girl in Seattle called Deniece originally from Preston (but now lives in Seattle) petite lass loves her football especially England...got a bit teary eyed when I played No On There coz it reminded her so much of the Parr Hall.

Don't know if anyone here knows her.

I didn't keep many, but did save Soultown at both the Tony's!!! Blackburn and Mexborough.

The Mucky Duck (Black Swan) in Mansfield another good night around that time.

Did you go to the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. Know I live there but it's the best venue I've ever been in, shame about the squad ph34r.gif:lol:

Chalky - did this have an oldies room upstairs? If it's where I think it is, and I'm afraid I never ventured to Chesterfield all that often, it was awesome. Went a couple of times and brought a bus from Barrow in Furness on one occasion as I recall - oldies mob one and all and they hated it - which made it even better in my book laugh.gif Happy days!!!

Parr hall definitely my favourite niter. I went in the 90s as well when it reopened but it wasn't the same. Looked bloody small as well. I always remembered it being a HUGE place! Memories decieve you. 4 hour wait on the station Sunday morning for my train but well worth it. Used to travel from Oswestry and meet up with Nicko and some of the Warrington lads. Remember the night my mate Anthony went up on his motorbike. Took one of the doormen for a ride on the back and they fell off. Fantastic place. Saddest night of my life the Saturday they announced the next one would be the last.

i loved Parr Hall..........a traditional heaving niter.........fair Stoke contingent used to go......i attended with Ian bailey and Dave mountford.........we usually saw sedge and young shute in there........one weekend we were going we had a small crash outside Ian baileys house and banged into Nogga's mini parked on the side of the road and totalled it......(we were singing along to "yum yum tree" at the time).......undeterred we carried on to Warrington.......pulling up outside like something from a demolition derby........the front nearside door was jammed so it was kicked open to a big cheer from the queue waiting to get in........afterwards a load of people went back to IBs house and proceeded to try to mend noggas" write off "on Sun morn...happy days

Jim - Just spoke to Nogger and read your post out, fits of laughter down the phone and he said the same as you - happy days!

Chalky - so many great venues around this time, Parr Hall, Blackburn and Chesterfield - all brilliant nights.

Chesterfield - remember talking to Danny Everard one night before he was dee-jaying and asked him to play Timi Yuro as Pablo was playing it and getting great dance floor reaction. Danny made it very clear at the time that it was his discovery and he played it first!

Went up to Stoke and met up with Sedge and Shute a few years ago, wonderful, wonderful memories of some great times had with these guys.

Mark - would love a copy of the Parr Hall anniversary tape.

Mark

Went to the Parr Hall regulary. Remember the record bar being on the left as you walked in. Good dance floor plus good tracks.

I haven't seen Chris for years now. In fact I posted a thread on here a year or so ago asking if anybody else had seen him as I know he hadn't been well. The last mobile I had for him stopped working so I can only assume he's on a new number and then lost my number. He doesn't come on here - neither does Mike Phoenix but he is still has his Scooter Shop and I see him from time to time at Man City or the odd All Niter.

Nick Stephenson is on here (if you know him) as nick.s.
