Hello,

I intend to do a 'show' in the near future based upon 1960s Dance Crazes....preferably with the dance craze in the title.

Obvious ones are THE Jerk, Twist,Monkey,Boogaloo , Skate, Shotgun ,Duck,Dip,...and variations.

Any ideas on tracks that I might overlook?

Thanks

  • Twine, Swim, Madison, Slauson and a bit more left-field, the Stran. I always thought I’d love to see someone doing the Matador

  • The Slow Fizz, the Freeze & the Philly Freeze (those ones obviously had everyone stopping dead in their tracks when FREEZE was shouted out on the track).

  • The Twine, The Mashed Potato.

I'd like to do a full show of different Dances if possible.

I could probably do a good part of show of tracks naming ' The Jerk'...quite a few of them.

The Peanut Duck is the the thing to do.

The Shing a ling ain’t the thing.

In the sixties, it was a new sensation that swept the nation. Apparently.. 🙂

No More Doggin’…which presumes there was a dance craze called Doggin’ maybe?

Isn't doggin' in the old music context,...er....casual sex whether in a relationship or not. As in...poondog. No more doggin' then means being loyal and not doing that.

But then, maybe you knew that! Ha.

Not sure…gonna ask Peter Kay…

A dance for which the top 45 related release was super successful was BAREFOOTING

Not sure what the dance actually consisted of, once you'd taken your shoes off, but I bet Robert Parker could have told you. His cut was so successful that even though it was made in New Orleans, (almost as far south in mainland UA as you could get - if you ignored Florida), it still enjoyed wide popularity north of the US border. On Canadian pop radio station CKLG, it even topped their chart ...

Ace did a CD series 'Land of 1000 Dances', so many we haven't mentioned yet.

I always liked songs about The Skate as they seemed really intense.

Also...the Cool Off
