Hi all, not sure if this is the right place for this but can someone tell me which version of Clarence Carter's - Messin' With My Mind is played out, the 7" or the 12".

Heard it at the Jersey weekender over the the last few days.

Gonna see if I can look out for a copy.

much obliged

So did you see the record going round on the deck ? (I guess not otherwise you'd already know if it was 7", 12", US or UK).

Back in the day, it was easy & cheap to get on both UK formats. Now the UK 7" is a lot more expensive, so I'd guess it's that format that's getting the plays these days.

Thanks Richard, most interesting. Didn't know that.

Much appreciated

The Tout Ensemble version got a spin at the Blackpool Tower last weekend in the main room, Sunday evening session, either Rod and Jimmy or Kev and Ozz. Great record and a brilliant session.

Can remember Terry Jones playing this back when it was a new release when he had the Spread Eagle in Shoreditch, immediately went and got one.

I've very recently bought my 3rd copy on here . Having sold up a few times etc etc , But I'm sure that it was played in a live club/ Bar scene , in a USA movie back in the 80s , but it could have been Otis Clay , Anyone know who & which movie , VHS so could now be lost .

The Tout Ensemble version seems to be around a lot more on 12". The 7" version doesn't have the length of the track listed. Is it the same as the earlier Certain UK version (3m 37s) ?

The Tout Ensemble label was a part of Certain Records, so I guess it is the same version. I have copies of both UK 7"ers but I've no idea where either of them are (too many boxes to pull out to check -- the wife would go mad).

Tout Ensemble got the UK license for William Bell’s Passion album, originally on Wilbe. That was a major release for me back in 1986.

Yes, and it’s not a remix

It would be good to know more about the story behind Tout Ensemble. Wilbe ended up being distributed by Ichiban, which was the source of Clarence Carter’s output of that time.

From Discogs doesn’t seem a lot was put out on Tout Ensemble and the Upfront album I’m sure was on the Serious label?
