Example Too late- Williams & Watson OKEh £7.99 + cost offrame White label

would be £6.99 for this one

2nd example James Bounty -Prove yourself a lady -Compass £11.99

White demo(£6.99) +cost of frame

3rd example Natural four on Curtom would be £11.99 + fraME

Maybe post up a sample? Just a suggestion.

It would be difficult to get the watercoulur effect as it would look just like a photo. But It would have a title of "My(Steve's) : favourite record" at the top

and then the painting underneath.

If you think about the coasters than came out/Watches /Clocks etc this would be a personal touch whistling.gif

Would be nice as a present to someone though?

If not all Dogs should be castrated especially the Pike variety whistling.gif

Would it?

Suppose it would look nice next to the Catacombs Cat Litter Tray , Wigan Casino Toilet Roll Holder or Blackpool Mecca Tea Towel .

You'll have to catch me to castrate me, but beware, this dog bites.

WOOF!

I think its a nice idea Ernie. If a soul fan comes up with an idea for soul fans, and makes a few quid there is no real reason to knock him.

I agree the coasters etc were a bit much, but this has a nice personal touch. It also would be nice for someone who likes soul and also likes watercolours, or has a partner who likes water colours. Its also not like an assembly line of NS mugs. Each painting will be an individual piece. A one off. Dont those things appeal to lots of our lot??

I have a framed sleeve of the Rufus Lumley LP. I have also considered putting my Gail Anderson WD in a frame (as I never play it), and mounting that on a wall out of the sunlight. It might make a talking piece for guests too.

Isnt there a story of one collector/dealer who has his fave record in a framed case at the bottom of his swimming pool?

Good luck with this mate.

I dont like all this memborillia to be honest. It usually represents something that has been and gone away. I would like to think it is still here!

I would consider a Twisted Wheel Shoe Horn though. whistling.gif

Aren't you confusing that with Pete Smith washing his records in the bath (before he got a dishwasher)? I just hope that he doesn't get in with them. whistling.gif

I am pretty sure I don't want to go on with this discussion. Ask Pete if he has got a bidet?

I was given a set as a present. They're not so bad. Not as bad as the pop-up Wigan Casino that Janine got for Christmas. I believe someone offered to spray some Brut on it for genuine odours, but it has been suggested that Janine borrow the underpants off an incontinent alcoholic tramp so that it could also double up as the Dome for us younger types.

There was a small hint of irony delivered with that present whistling.gif (But secretly, I think she preferred it to the champagne & the Joanie Somers promo card )

Yep me too. and i agree they aint too bad.

BUT this is funny. Last year i picked a nice colour flyer up with record labels dotted all over it. You know the type of thing any way it took a while - say 30 seconds - to realise that the labels were actually just copies of the coasters!! LOL

Small? :Dwhistling.gif

In which case she can give me the Joanie Sommers card. Although I'm sure that Janine preferred the champagne.

Nice water colours of fave artistes or the Motown Studios might go Ernie. Maybe a collage of fave single, artiste and label name written across the top in the same writing as is on the label. Personally, my fave record is Ain't No Mountain High Enough but I wouldn't want a water colour of it. What would be really nice would be a repro of the pic on the Easy album and maybe the building in front. Something like that. Just throwing out suggestions. Roger Banks has loads of photos of soul artistes, you could contact him and work from there.

I quite fancy marketing a wigan casino gift set featuring a matching commode, colostomy bag and ear trumpet. All in a high quality and fetching imitation ocelot skin. But it wouldnt have a clenched fist on it as that would be tacky.

Damn fine idea. I would guess that it would be easier to fit a colostomy bag if the recipient was wearing Spencers, but isn't there a risk of getting them caught up in the Stannah Stairlift? Nostalgia can be a very dangerous thing.

Northern soul coasters you say? Ever got a chipped record and gone at it with the big scissors? I know atop my speakers etc are SEVILLE - Dooley Silverspoon, MOTOWN, Stevie Wonder, MAJOR MINOR - Johnny Nash, VILLA - The Checkerboard Squares, VERVE - Clara Ward (don't ask, the label looked nice, honest)! Keeps beer condensation and coffee rings to a minimum and they look nice. If you like that sort of thing.
