As regards the Ritz revival count all us ex Mecca Fylde Coasters in - where do we buy tickets? I remember the LP version of "You" by Samuel Jonathon Johnson (Columbia) being a brilliant tune at the Ritz - yet the 12inch mix was dreadful!!. Epic Posted January 29, 2005 Share Posted January 29, 2005 Spot on Martyn - I'm with you on this one - loved dancing to Tavares, DC Larue & Idris Muhammad etc. That said, would also stay on the floor to Rotations, Jimmy Raye & Paul Sindab etc. If only people would stop categorizing the music we all love. Soul music is great in 2005. Equally it was great in 1965 & the 4 decades that seperate the two years. Ric-tic Posted January 29, 2005 Author Share Posted January 29, 2005 my best memory of the ritz was laughing and joking with the crown heights affair,they just came up and started talking,they were just 'hangin, out at the ritz' but the tavares actin like superstars i was in the foyer talking as they were leaving they all ran through and out of the door the last one turned to look back,i think he was expecting to see 800 screaming girls and there were none you should have seen the puzzled look on his face that one was still a great day and i have the ritz poster for that one firmly nailed to my wall Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

The tune was a bit like a mixture of Peoples Choice's Do It Any Way You Wanna and Brass Costruction's Movin' from what I remember. I think Cleveland played bass on Ramsay Lewis's Wade In The Water as well. Godz Not gonna get told off again like when I mentioned reggae am I? Flaming Emeralds was 7" only.
