By the way, over 100 posts and well over 2 and half thousand hits on this niter in events.

A huge improvement on early days and credit to Big Phil and his Dj's for sticking at it, when many others would have folded.

Yes you missed another good un, played your cd all the way there and back, very nice indeed thumbsup.gif Ask Phil for a spot, sure it would go down well.

Paul's set the most soulful of the nite (but thats what he brings to this niter), all the dj's have their own individual style but they combine so well to make this niter right up there with the best in the country (if not the best - imo).

Difficult this time for early DJ's as crowd quite sparse early doors, which is unusual for Burnley (packed to rafters after midnight). Feckin football crowd could'nt have helped as it took me over 20 minutes to get quarter of a mile and missed first 25 mins as a result (plus fkin England was playing Albania so thats another 11 asylum seekers)

Anyways enough of rant, message is get there early or you will miss some superb tunes.

Musically one of the best allnighters I have been to in the last 33 years. None of the DJ's disappointed anyone. Lots of Stafford rarities, a few Wigan rares and loads of lesser known high quality 60's sounds of a very high calibre.

This must be place to be at the mo.

The Bat liked it anyway!!!

As usual another top nite at Burnley thumbsup.gif , the atmosphere was buzzin with everyone up for a good time, all the guest dj's brought something different to the night and the residents delivered top class tunes as usual - thanks to stuart raith who appreciated my dancin (with the bats!) early doors. Biggest dissapointment of the night was paul, kyle and rosemary having to leave early..though rosemary had a good reason!!!.

Apologies to paul brennan, think kev and neil ate your pet bats aout 3.30, they were a tad crunchy but washed down well with a magners!!

Phil, your hard work is much appreciated by everyone, especially now you have to take a holiday each time...how many hot dogs and bacon butties did you eat alltogether?? ...Bring on the next Burnley bat Club!...k/w

Kev, I felt so sorry for the lady in the kitchen, that I started buying brews for everyone that was sat around that area. Then I enticed Cliff and Greenwich over, and bought them a hot dog and a brew appiece. That gave them a taste for it, so they bought another round in. Then later on I thought trade was slow so I had a bacon and egg tea cake and another brew. Just to be polite of course. whistling.gif

Anyway, I hope you didn't eat the bats, I've had loads of other promoters wanting to book them.............. Well it sounded like book'em shades.gif

Great to see you and Wendy, thanks for your support. Phil.

Yes but what are bats for if not crunching. Fecked off early on to get my spike and hammer but obviously the sun had started to come up by then and missed the wicked, evil, Count Philcula of Transyl-barnoldswick, my work is not completed yet and when I find his place of rest :shhh:

Phil, your hard work is much appreciated by everyone, especially now you have to take a holiday each time...how many hot dogs and bacon butties did you eat alltogether??

I understand about £15 worth, however each dog and sarnie was authenic meat on original 60's bread, so respect due to the big fellah

 ...Bring on the next Burnley bat Club!...

It was great to be asked to play some records, a big thankyou for that. It made such a change for me to be able to play a few lesser knowns & still have people on the dancefloor, I enjoyed every minute.

See you all in June !

Not a lot more can be said about Fri - one thing that strikes you about Burnley is the friendly happy atmosphere that hits you as you walk in - everyone just having a great time - most of us spend the first 4 hours chatting n catching up with friends - no reflection on dj's but show's this venue isn't just about the music it's the people too... though left a few people in mid-sentance to dance on the carpet... best dancing surface there is n make's a great thigh workout.. :shades:

Jo's first time at Burnley n she loved it... booking the next date in her diary as we speak... don't bother with route planners specially RAC - directions into Burnley oh soo wrong - eventually I pulled up at Tesco's garage n asked Jo to ask DIRECTIONS from a copper getting petrol... well suddenly found myself with a double car police escort through the town centre of Burnley right to the door of The Kestral Suite :shades: ... Jo had only asked them both to TAKE us instead of direct us... That has gotta be a first ... n definately last.. I hope.. Did say to Jo though even Princess Diana didn't get a 2 car police escort..

Cheers Headsy n Kev got home safely n thanks for the record... Tony last time I give you a pack of fruit pastilles if your gonna leave them :wicked:

Alex can't believe you played - The out of sights - as I was just getting in the car :shhh: wanted to rush back into dance but would have missed it by time I'd locked the car back up again...

At last managed to get my bez to come and what a great time we had..

Phil thanks for being true to your word with carpet reservation .. :wicked:

don't know what happened there - it posted up only half my post n I tried to post end of message n told me I had used too many emoticons - so I had to delete some..

....No way did you let any side down dude. When was the last nighter you went too a venue and heard a spot like yours? Not bloody often. Its NOT just about playing expensive, its just about being different and refreshing as long as its got SOUL. This is what I like about Burnley, the chance to hear something different. There are too many gems just waiting to have their day. Its been like this since the Torch. Why is then the same 500 records get played over and over again... this is not what the scene was meant to be about! - I for one, look forward to your next spot. Hopefully at Burnley... and believe me, I'm not back slappin for back slappins sake :wicked:

Hi John,

Blimey mate, looking at your avatar picture it looks like you're having a pretty serious day at the office !

All uptempo dancers, accept Bobby Sanders which is mid tempo. The Rock is Mel Williams singing under a different name, & this track uses the same backing as "Can it be me".

The T.V & the Tribesmen seems to have only come out on 45 in the UK, it's on a U.S. album, great little uptempo version of Barefootin, never fails with the dancefloor. Should pick one up for a fiver or so.

Yes mate, Burnley certainly is doing the business !

I just wanted to keep everyone up to speed on current developements for the next Burnley Allnighter........ I have had a few people pull me up about the sound system over the last couple of months, so, being totally open to constructive criticism, I've done somthing about it....... Took a day off work today, Gary kindly let me set up in the Kestrel Suite and try some sound checks. I was able to try out different speaker/amp combinations, and from being happy with the sound before. I have now got to hold my hands up, and admit that I was wrong. Having added two Peavy's to the four speakers that I was using before, the difference is staggering. And hopefully there will be another two Peavy's added by the next nighter on the 22nd...... So thanks for the kick up the backside, I hope you will be pleased with the new sound....... I can't wait for the 22nd now.

Phil

The sound quality is always great at Burnley, adding extra speakers will compliment it :D

Have you got any spare fishing / catching nets sorted for the bats!

cheers
