Guest SteveC
Thanks Simon for a lively event and inviting me to spin. A pity about the awful weather which was so persistant and which prevented the traditional "sit out". On the otherside of the coin the atmosphere was kept within the confines of the event. Late arrival for us - no guesses who's fault that was - suffice to say Fudge and Tina's inaugaral Brighton event proved to be an eye opener for them and Fudge states he's not laughed so much in ages and Tina wanted to let you know through the forum that you were a friendly bunch. Here's my plays from 10-11: Earl Jackson - Soul Self Satisfaction - ABC DEMO Hesitations - I'm not built that way - Kapp Intentions - I'm losing your love - Uptight Carl Underwood - Ain't you lying - Merging Turnarounds - Can't take no more - Minit DEMO Marvin L Sims - Get off my back - Revue Betti Lou & Boby Adams - Dr Truelove - TRA-X Ollie Jackson - Just a little while - Pepper DEMO Sam Dees - Lonely for you baby (Alt take) - Dub Oliver Norman - Drowning in my own despair - Decca DEMO Big Frank & the Essences - I won't see her cry - Blue Rock Jean Stanback - If ever I needed love - Peacock Soulville Allstars - Nobody to blame (but myself) - Soulville Luther Ingram - If its all the same to you babe - HIB Vibrations - One mint julep - Columbia UK Contours - Jealousy - Uniss Motown Dub Marvelettes - I'll keep on holding on - TMG UK Brenda Holloway - Crying time - Uniss Motown Dub NF Porter - Keep on keeping on - Lizard Bobby Angelle - Too much for you - Money Hector Rivera - Do it to me - Barry Darrow Fletcher - What good am I without you - Jacklyn Sound Masters - Lonely lonely - Julet Jackie Ross - Trust in me - Dub Edited May 28, 2007 by SteveC Link to comment
Kevinkent
Really sorry to have missed this one - my favourite alldayer, but I was committed to our Ramsgate do. Si, haven't heard Steve Karmen..Breakaway played out for years, then we both play it on the same night! No one took the dancefloor challenge, a la "Soul Function", during my early doors slot but I guess you may have fared better with it at Brighton! Nice sets guys, I'll ensure I'm free for the next one! Link to comment
Woolie2003
Great time had by the Woolston's too - many thanks Simon. Not getting out and about as much as previously, it is always good to pick a winner, and we seemed to have done just fine with the Brighton all-dayer yesterday. Hi Kev, Great track imo, i had a few dancers up for it, one of those records you can really lose yourself in, total asmosphere. Not sure why it's not played more, maybe people think it's too cheesy or sommmat, nice to see you give it a spin also, great minds etc. Simon Link to comment

manus
At the risk of sounding a wee bit sentimental last night's Volks had everything that keeps me coming back to Soul nights. Great sounds and a brilliant atmosphere and smiling faces everywhere. When I got back indoors I opened a bottle of wine and just sat with a smile on my face thinking nights like this are what it's all about. Keep them coming Simon. Special thanks go to the young lady who came up to me when I was standing clapping along to one of the tunes and let me know I wasn't clapping properly and then proceded to show me how to do it correctly. Whoever you were you made a great night that little bit funnier. All the best Manus Link to comment
Guest CaroleC
Simon Thanks for organising another great alldayer. Good to catch up with old friends and hear some top tunes. We arrived later than anticipated so I missed hearing Mary Love, but later sang a rendition to Woolie who was very impressed Link to comment

Cheers Carol, i must also mention Dave & Andy who ran the downstairs room but really took a lot of the weight off my shoulders by helping out with the cost of the flyers etc. & also doing the door, not to mention all the flyering & word of mouth stuff.
