Are you talking cheese like

Velvellettes - these things will keep me loving you?

I think the Artist name wins in the Fromage stakes, although the track does have a certain whiff.

Mickey Moonshine - Name It You Got It - Decca

(I personally think it's a blinding dancer!!!)

I don't get what you mean about the Roger Hatcher record. What's cheesy about this 45 in this context? To me it's a more than competent soul record. Light, melodic, but with a great vocal by Hatcher, a more than capable soul stylist.

The other side is a tremendous ballad, with Roger's keening falsetto vocal wringing every ounce of sincerity out of a meaningful lyric. I sometimes wonder if we're all listening to the same records, and I'm not kidding either.

Sammy Davis, Jr. definitely takes it!

But here's some top cheese to me:

"Can't Live This Way" Barnaby Bye-I've had the demo 45 for years, but I recently found this LP at a thrift store on my lunch break.

"Wall to Wall Heartaches" Bobby Jason (has a "huggy-nes" quality)

"Don't Pity Me" Sue Lynne (great backup singers on this one)

"Love's the Only Answer" Kelly Garrett-anyone ever notice the drummer on this song? My God! So fantastic!

Frankie and Johnny (already mentioned) LOVE this one too. Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!

I absolutely LOVE these songs!

Good one Dayo, but on the version by the Essex didn't they change it to "Transistor Radio", or have I lost more brain cells than I thought? whistling.gif

Eh up Kenny old lad!

Would that be the Danish Blue Sharks you've a liking for?

Diamond Cheezers inc.

Lovelace "variety performance" Watkins

Cletus Marland

Samantha Jones and Sue Lynn I've always thought more big top trapeze type efforts though both are tainted with queso.

Off Topic.

Hi Supercorsa. I was hopeing you'd be on here.

All that stuff about originals, I think you went about it in the right way. You said you would be playing CDs, and why, from the word go.

My views are in general aimed at Allnighters and 'mainstream' Northen soul nights.

Yours is a great idea, and I hope it does really well.

I could have pm'd you, but as I stated my views for all to see, I thought I would state this for everyone to view.

Mikey

If you listen to the song by Crystal Motion........

"You're my main squeeze and everybody else is cheese"

Does this qualify in this smorgasboard of fromage hilarity?
