7daylover
Lets hope so, mate... Really looking forward to it. Here's the flyers: Well what a great afternoon/nite it was last nite, got lost of course!! never been to that area of the big city, but made it by 7.15. We found ourselves in the middle of a Ska set, wow. Some great tunes I've not heard for a while!!! Some Robo played at Carl and Maria's room last Sat (Middleton) Most Jamaican with the odd Mexican one!!! No, it wasn't Speedy Gonzalez!!! It was followed by a very good Soul set, quite a few people on the dance floor, a young crowd, great to see them enjoying the music. Then a band playing Blues and Rock, a great nite. I was sorry we had to leave early, but the jetlagg forced me to drive back home (40kms) opposite side of the city!!! So after sunbathing while having coffee and breakfast, and watching the humming birds in the bugambilias, getting ready for tonite's 11.5 hrs of DJs. 7daylover
Well Sat afternoon/nite was another great event, we got there just after 5, an easy place to find, it started a bit later than expected and the 75 o 80 gals and guys (all of them between 17 & 22) at the venue looked ready to hit the dance floor as soon as the music started. A bar in the centre of the city, nothing to scream about, but clean and friendly and very cheap (Coronas, Sol, 2X, Indio, etc 15.00) to you and I less than 75pence a bottle. A fantastic sound system, those speakers were so clear!!! Brendan started the gig with a great Latino and Ska, as soon as the first notes were on, guys started dancing as they were talking and drinking. He was followed by Ramiro aka King Stregae who played a fantastic Ska set, wow. Some great tunes I've not heard for a while!!! Then we had Dante Soulcialista on the decks who played a great soulfull set of Soul and Motown by this time the dance floor got busier. Then it was time for Chris Bearsoul, I think the 1st UK Soul DJ to play in Mexico, so all the gals and guys had been expecting the best and Chris deliver it. The dance floor got at its busiest and tables had to be moved to make more room for the guys to dance. As I said before a very, very young crowd, but they all new the movents and dancing routines, they even had talcum powder on the floor. It was Mexican soul madness!!! Most of the crowd danced all through the 2 hrs Chris´ set lasted, he also played a few Ska tunes within his set. Chris had a great response during his set and at the end with clapping and people thanking him for making the effort??? to come to Mexico to play for them Mod TJ1 played a couple of tunes at the end as he arrived late. In all it was a great nite, for me to see such a young crowd on the dance floor was great and of course I do know there is a great future for Soul music in Mexico, it was great to see them enjoying the music and as I said their dancing. So no doubt we will be back to the next Chewing weekend. Off to Puebla on Thursday for the Revival Times weekend on Fri 27th and Sat 28th. www.myspace.com/revivaltimesc Hasta la vista amigos, Carlos Edited July 24, 2007 by 7daylover Link to comment
