Will be in attendance as always, altho' I will probably be spending more time stood outside.....

Unless, of course, I get some nicotine patches, stick one on the back of me head (It gets to your brain faster) and one of those plastic cigs!! :rolleyes:

Looking at the line up for this one it should be a cracker with a good 60's/70's mix .

Brian Goucher and Mike Charlton both excellent at Soul Essence in April.

We'll be there from kick off

See you there

Not heard them before, what sort off stuff do they play??

Phil.

I will give you a clue Phil.

Two syllables,

first syllable - a gibbet on which the Romans exposed malefactors, typically consisting of two peices of timber, one placed tranversely to the other. One of which Christ suffered on and is used as a symbol of christian religions.

second syllable - above in place of rank, power, authority, etc. In excess of.

Many more to choose from but you surely must have got it by now.

I like the plastic cig in your pic, so much cooler than the white ones, you where smoking at Lifeline. Make sure when you go outside that the rain does not wash off your WB stamp or you may end up paying a few quid in door tax. Unless you put it under your patch :(

They both play quality underplayed S-O-U-L Music from the 6t's and 7t's and surely the important word here is SOUL whatever your preference is.

Personally we like to listen to anything that is underplayed ,whether it is Down Tempo, Mid Tempo or Up Tempo 60's or 70's , X-over , even R & B as long as it is Soulful , it doesn't matter to us but the fact that Dave Box has booked these guys should tell you that they must be worth listening to in a line up that looks like it will suit all tastes because he only has the best at The Wilton as I 'm sure you will agree.

Troops;

I sense some trepidation at the inclusion of myself and Mike Charlton being added to the next Wilton line up.....For those of you who dont know me or have no idea what I play, here goes..........Im 52 this year and spent the best years of my life at Wigan, Blackpool and a vast array of soul events up and down the country.Iv never ever begged for a spot anywhere but for the past 35yrs its just happened.I constantly search out tunage that Iv never heard but I get bored very easily hearing the same tunes over and over again, I first played Papa Bear & The Cubs some 16 yrs ago,now every where you go its being played, same for Bitter & Sweet, Iv had some fun digging tunes out for the Wilton and I have to say Im looking forward to it big time.I collect soul from the 60's right up to whats happening today, if you get the chance go and listen too Oliver Johnson "Daydreaming" on CD Baby, my current new release rave.Im also a huge album collector and fully intend to bring some along with me, the bottom line here is that I have no intention of playing anything else other than quality soul music........As for Mike Charlton, few people command more respect on the soul scene in this country and I just know he will do the business too.

See you there..........

Im up for that big time, come over and speak with me, Im not expecting to meet to many folks I know, but I am looking forward to it. I remember the first batch of the Nancy Butts arriving about 20yrs ago and the suspicion then was that it wasnt a legitimate release, mainly because the label is so well collected by us deep freaks. But it has turned out to be quite rare now and the ssuspicions were never founded..........................Way back then I had to pay a massive £20.

gouch,

ain't heard you play before m8, but it was a pleasure to the ears.your set flowed to such a degree, you was liquid fella. had me and mo up quite a few times to deck peep, and get info on tracks. well done, breath of fresh air m8.

:thumbsup:

Thanks for all the positive comments, I aint done an alniter for years, but I enjoyed it big time, because I dont really frequent Northern nites very often,I normally attend soul doo's that feature soul totally accross the spectrum, a lot of the music was new to these ears too,I was impressed.

I missed off Nina Simone " Touching & Caring" from my playlist.

Great line up of DJ's as always, credit to Dave,Mouse,John and Jerry for a line up which brought something for everyone and was spread out well through the night.

Could have been busier but there was a lot on elsewhere and with Kirsty's absence things were always going to be quieter than normal.

We thought everyone played quality tunes within their sets and hard to single out one above the others, must have been difficult for Gouch and Mike to decide what to play but they seemed to go down well with most people.

Looking forward to next one with Keith Money and John Weston as part of another top line up.

See you in September

Paul & Sue :wicked::lol:
