Stubbsy
My first Soulgate yesterday. Despite the fact that we arrived 6.30 ish and left 11.30 ishh, and managed to lose Taffy & Wendy on the way home, really enjoyed it. So many old (and new) happy smiling faces, all having a whale of a time. Top quality music without any "chin stroking"! Dancing on the carpet, just like me front room (brought back memories of the early SITC nights at the Old Blue Last). Big thanks and well done to the organisers, I'll certainly be back next year. Guest toby
A big big thankyou to everyone who attended yesterday,a nice mad day/evening out with fun and frolics thrown in. Terry Cozens has informed me that the buckets collected over £1020,for the chosen charity,WELL DONE PEOPLE. This annual event is in honour of our late departed friend Mr Randy Cozens,i bet he was smiling up there with some of the antics that went yesterday . On behalf of Terry & Paul Cozens a great big thankyou for attending,Djing, drinking, dancing and having fun. see you all again next year then, Toby......... Link to comment
Guest Bearsy
Myself and SimonM arrived just after midday and the sun was out and music was playing, we stayed to about half 4 as i had duties elsewhere in the evening and was gutted i had to go as the atmosphere was building very nicely and the tunes were of the highest quality, it was great to meet a few new people like Chalky, Steve G, Steve Bish, and to see some good friends Toby & Mandy, Dave Greenhill, Martin, Paul Mackay, Peter etc etc. Hopefully next time i wont have to leave so early as this day is definately one i will be attending again and staying until the end, thanks to Toby and all the organisers for a great time even though it was brief visit but it was well worth making the effort. See you all next year if i dont see you before somewhere Bearsy Link to comment

Guest vinylvixen
What can I say....the sun shone, the new venue proved a huge success and the overall vibe was fabulous. After much delay with traffic, Simsy managed to deliver me in time for my set - the lift was very much appreciated. When I arrived, Val was playing her usual tip top selection of tunes and hopefully she'll post a playlist. The soul clans had gathered and everyone who was anyone turned out to make this years Soulgate one of the best so far. Large chunks of the South Coast contingent made the journey, the Runcorn posse were burning up the dancefloor and there were Londoners and Essexites galore. People from far flung places - some still wearing wellingtons (actually, that bit's not true lol) turned out in force and it was a pleasure to see so many old friends supporting such a positive venture. I think the generous donations had something to do with Caroline rattling the bucket - she worked tirelessly seperating people from their money Soulgate appears on our soul calendar every year without fail - thanks to everyone involved behind the scenes who offer their time and effort freely to put on my favourite alldayer. But ultimately, it is down to Paul and Terry for maintaining and continuing the enthusiasm and passion for soul that was their dad's legacy. Thank you Here's to next year. Jo My playlist - in more or less order of play... Vernon Greene - Look at me Minnie Jones - Shadow of a memory Friends of Distinction - Long time coming my way The Imaginations - Love Diet Isley Brothers - My love is your love Girls - The hurt's still here Barbara Long - We call it love Yvonne Carroll - Please Don't go Maxine Brown - Since I found you Link to comment

I don't think I have missed one for many many years but we had better make an earlier start next year! It was great to see such a huge turn-out with everyone having fun-Randy would be thrilled! Guest SteveC
Well what an enjoyable event!!! First time at this now legendary all-dayer for Carole and I and not the last I'm sure. It was so fulfilling to have all those conversations you wish you'd had at soul nites/niters and it really is a party event with good music thrown in as a bonus. Obviously we're not aware of what previous venues were like but this one seemed idyllic on the day. I never knew Randy to speak to but knew of him in the early 80's when I attended the 100 club - and of his colourful and respected character - so it was a priviledge to have met his son, Terry, yesterday. Shannanigans galore but most of all a lovely happy crowd who really did party hard. Many thanks Taffy, Toby and all involved in organising the successful event. Lovely to see the likes of Chalky, Guy, Simon & Sam, Caroline, Jon & Sue Buck, The Herts "massive" and many more. Special thanks to Trickster and Etsu for the lift to my Ma-in-laws. Pics to follow. Donna and I had great fun double decking, though we didn't work out where all the dancers were until half way through. Thanks for the spot lads, we know pop super stars were blown out from DJing at this prestigious event. And Steve, your Abba secret's safe with me, though I'm sure there were a few revealed on my part that won't look tasty in print! Link to comment

A big thank you to everyone for making it a great great day and with our expedition to Alans Records a top weekend that we will remember for a long while. Top people and a tidy sum for charity is pretty good as well. Two records that sum up the whole event to me BILL BRADON "RAINBOW ROAD" SPOONERS CROWD "TWO IN THE MORNING" Been whistling that all bloody week. Mind you Jerry Jackson always sounds awesome. Music wise it was superb all day. A bit of a first was eating a spicy beanburger sat next to a speaker blasting out the Girls "the hurts still here". Got a feeling we'll all be back next year.
