This is a real long shot. I only ever heard this at cleethorpes.

Ok goes like this

Ding ding ding,,,,,,,,ding ding, ding, ding ding ding ding. and repeat.

A fast stomping instrumental with a distinct guitar opening.

Sorry that all I got. For years I thought it was soul step by the dogs until I heard that tune off a CD and its not the same record.

Think think think.

You see the problem was that the first wintergarden nighters had the DJs just through the door and you could go up and see the disc.

Then they moved it up to the stage at the back and made it impossible to see what was being played.

I blame the DJs. Probably covered up anyway. Ding ding ding.

Bloody hell, I was going to suggest that exact record...horrible electric guitary thing which they always said was gonna go big but never did..

link

I only remeber it cos it was also the number one sound at Oldham Cats Whiskers for about two weeks.

Believe the flip might be a nice funk tune though...

Anyway - is this the one then?

It's not Raw Soul - The Gig is it?

Cleethorpes, Inst, guitar intro, lots of "dings", boring...

Just a thought.

The guitar break is in the middle though, not the intro......horrible(as Pete says)maybe-boring?.....Never.People used to do that funny sort of skipping dance to it (if I remember right.... smile.gif:shades:smile.gif )

No Nope, none of them. Falbala - Jesus.

More like a very basic Champion with a driving beat from the lead guitar.

Played at the same time as stuff like broadway sissy, similar speed in terms of dancing.

Ding ding ding intro like a harder version of the intro to 'Your love makes me Lonely'.

Now I cant stop twanging my imaginary guitar string.

Guest Johnny Mack

........................MUSIC MINUS TWO ON BOBALOU ?

Right era and venue - could conceivably meet the "ding" criteria; not so sure about the "fast" bit !

Maybe one of the Major Symphony tracks ? "Metal Heart" or the other one which I will have to dig the L.P's. out to find.....

or maybe,

7 Seas "Fight the power"

Metal Heart !

Any chance of a sound bite please??

Maybe this is a bit obscure, but sample attached anyhow.

It's not something obvious like Phil Coulter is it ?

Thanks for all your help, but none of the suggestions jump out. I guess I will have to go to a revival night over there and quiz the Old Jocks.

I am guessing it was a Poke spin, and probably covered up or an acetate, as its never come out on the 100 or so CDs I have aquired.

I am not sure my vocal interpretation of the tune will be any more use than the ding ding ding written down. Is that Leaking Boot chippy still open up the road?

Just thought ofanother possibility as you metioned Poke, he had an acetate played as James Bynum think it was called "Love music"....

It's seven years later now and I have been searching the last few weeks for the title of a song that also starts with ring ding ding and a fast stomping instrumental with a distinct guitar opening. By reading these posts I kept on searching and I found the song I was looking for. Maybe you've found yours seven years ago but I wonder if it was the same song...

Michel Legrand - Di-gue Ding Ding
