Mike
Info taken from the Herald https://www.theherald.co.uk/features/33601.html IT was just over a year ago that the marketing manager of the SECC, Gillian Purvis died in a fire in the flat she shared with artist Toby Paterson at Glasgow's St George's Cross. The trust set up her in name to support promising students of textile design studying at Glasgow School of Art has already benefitted fourth year student Scott Kyle to the tune of £500. On Sunday night, February 20, the opportunity to help fill the coffers of the Gillian Purvis Trust is only one of the fine reasons for going to Oran Mor in Glasgow (corner of Byres Road and Great Western Road). There you will find a special club night calling itself, appropriately, Pure Woven Soul and specialising in soul music for those with itchy feet and dancin' shoes. Spinning the platters will be DJ Matt Vinyl of local Northern Soul club renown and Herald diarist and presenter of Soul Train on Saga FM, David Belcher. The evening runs from 9pm to 2am and admission is by donation on the door (minimum £5). Link to comment
