Just put together 2 cds of some of my favourite tracks and it occured to me that I could only hear such a set in my car. These are really great tracks IMHO and rarely get played nowadays.

To hear 90% of these in a row would be impossible today or am I wrong? If there is anyplace that plays these types of sounds and no R&R, then I would glady travel a great distance to hear them.

The tracks:

CD1

Ruby Winters - I want Action

Johnny Copeland - Sufferin' City

Bobby Marchan - Everything A Poor Man Needs

Mack Rice - Baby, I'm Coming Home

August Moon - You're Together Baby

Cookie Jackson - Do You Still Love Me

Hector Rivera - Do It To Me

Ty Karim - You Really Made It Good To Me

Vonettes - Touch My Heart

Benny Spellman - This Is For You My Love

Ray Charles - I Don't Need No Doctor

Crown Four - The Birth Of A Playboy

Willie Mitchell - That Driving Beat

James Brown - Money Wont Change You

Jewel Akens - I've Arrived

Enchanments - I'm In Love With Your Daughter

Tommy Navaro - I Cried My Life Away

Johnny Colon - You Gotta Love Me

Dee Dee Sharpe - I'm Coming Home

Harvey - Anyway You Wanta

Soul Sisters - Think About The Good Times

Willie Mitchell - The Chammpion

Richie Adams - I Can't Escape From You

The Strides - I Can Get Along Without Your Love

Never fails to amaze me how many people slag off R&B, stating it's R&R then place tracks up in their favourites lists, or jump up to dance to it.

When is an R&B record not an R&R record? When it's a Northern record of course!

WOOF!

I really do love R&B but the majority of the so-called R&B discoveries of the last 5 years are nothing other than R&R. But thats my opinion.

My brother in law introduced me to the sounds from The Wheel which was before my time and as far as I can make out, they played at least 75 % R&B, which still sounds great today. I very much doubt that todays R&R would have got deck time then.

sorry to be a pain but you know what it's like when there is a record that's under your skin and it's within your price range but you never see it or hear it played....

But the instrumental is pure New Orleans rhythm 'n'blues rather than rock'n'roll? Funny how a vocal changes it. Saw Frankie Ford years ago, he was dressed like Elvis in Vegas. I prefer the instrumental nowadays anyway.
