I was a bit disappointed when I saw Geno do a pub gig a few years back - but hopefully with a really tight band behind them they can still recreate some of the old magic.

On his 3 live (more of that later*) albums Geno did more covers of Eddie Floyd than any other artist.

On the 2nd album - Hipsters, Flipsters etc. - he did Raise Your Hand and Things Get Better

On the 3rd album - Running Wild - he did Knock On Wood and Holding On With Both Hands.

*For about 40 years I was under the sad illusion that those 3 albums all WERE TRULY recorded live - in front of hordes of adoring mods in sharp suits and with their Lammy's all lined up in the street outside.

In fact just last year I learned that the first 2 were actually recorded at Pye's Marble Arch studio - still breaks my heart to think about it!!

O.K. - done in one take - but the audience was apparently just a motley crew of people dragged along from the Record Company offices.

I heard this from someone who was there so sadly it HAS to be true!

On the 3rd album the sound quality is noticeably poorer and is the only one that was live in the true spirit of the word - recorded at the Casino Club, Bolton.
