The third one down Roger, the boot. Does this have a rough matt finish label ?

Hi Steve

Yes, it does have a Matt finish to the Label.

I will try for a Matrix scan tomorrow, I ran out of Daylight today as I was taking the Photos.

I have heard that Bobby Womack might have a few , Roger  ......

Roger....

Wasn't there also a boot on yellow label with Canturbury written across in a straight line.... or am I thinking of another record altogether....

Yes, Canterbury was used as a BOOT Label for some titles.

Canterbury_C-129-A.jpg

I'm not sure if The Younghearts was ever pressed with this design though.

There is the Later Canterbury Design, and Original Press.

Not with that design Roger.... seem to remember was on yellow label with "posh old english" type font in a straight line across the top.... and smaller writing than that above....

Hi Dave

I'm pleased that you have reminded me of this.

Is the other "LITTLE TOGETHERNESS" Stock Copy (West Coast) Credited to The Younghearts.

A while ago there was a copy of this on Manships Auction but with The Tempos credited.

This has got to be It's rarest format. >>> LINK <<<

John does get some wonderful records, how many will own this little beauty.

Hi,

Just having a clear out and have one of these, did a search to try to find out what it's worth. Mine is same and believe it is a boot. In Manship's guide to reissues counterfeits and bootlegs, he writes: ' The original press can be on styrene or vinyl. The styrene copy has a delta #64811. The vinyl copy has 'child-like' handwriting for the matrix 67-c-506a lw lr. This is rounghly scratched and can be felt with the fingertips. The bootleg was made in vinyl moulded over yellow label identical to the original, but has jc 67-506 -a re 5 in the run-out. "

Looking at the scans above I'd not entirely agree that the label is identical- the printing type of 'Younghearts' is different- however I'm satisfied mine's a boot and will therefore flog it for whatever it's worth. Fortunately it only cost me a fiver.

Coincidence...I found one of these last saturday...£20 if anyone fancies it.

(No machine stamps, just S-10-A and S-10-B scratched in.)

Is it just me or is the Soultown release a cleaner sounding mix than the Canterbury one? I've still got a Soultown copy as I just think it sounds better??????

If its got that Stargate stamp I will take it from your mitt's Dave.

They're not stamped like some earlier Soultown releases...different pressing plant involved?

With regards to Mark's comment about the sound quality:

I haven't owned a Canterbury (WD naturally!) copy in 20+ years, but on playing the Soultown copy it instantly sounded a lot 'sharper' than the Canterbury counterpart, as I recalled.

Yup, my ears weren't deceiving me as both the vocals and instrumentation are defo different on checking it against a Canterbury soundfile, so different takes/mixes?

The backing vocals and strings are further down in the mix of the Soultown version, whilst the brass and tambourine are defo more in your face, making it a lot 'brighter' and 'cleaner' sounding overall, without becoming 'clinical' or lifeless...and it's in mono.

Well, you live and learn...wonder what the Zea recording is like?

I accept JPYen, US$ or good ole UK£...or vinyl/styrene of course...and on the odd occasion cloth too (still need the 1st night Casino Russ & Richard and 1st Anniversary badges for the collection!)...who needs Paypal!?!

Alas Tony, it has already sold...sorry my friend. Grab a copy if you get the chance as the recording quality really is great!

Correct as usual roger, shoulda popped in for a cuppa while you were in durham, were in peterlee, thanks for info mate put me mind at rest

If I'm not mistaken there's a slower version of "A little togetherness" on their album.

The Younghearts circa 1970s - looking cool.

According to Manship's Pride Guide (5th Edition) this information is not correct.

In the back of his guide, he lists a label scan of the original VINYL copy, and the label is different from the one you have posted. Please check the label scans in the back of the guide. It is label scan no. 565d.

I haven't a copy of th 5th edition, I still believe that the Information that I have given (Posted February 2008) is Indeed correct.

This came out on Yellow & also Burgundy label,

I do have an earlier copy of the Bootleg Guide which lists this as one of the Original Vinyl (Rough to the touch deadwax info)

If any recent Information has come to light regarding this vinyl copy then I am not aware of that.

I think it was pressed on a yellow Canterbury similar to the red design above. I'm sure mine's like that, but I'd have to dig it out to check.

Guest Mr Faye

i've got a weird copy of this...not sure if it is boot or not...the label 'Canterbury' is in different style text than the orignal and the reissue/boot copy.

My copy is very worn but you can still make it out...

Will put a scan up later when i'm home

I was led to believe the first two are original and the last two were boots. I had a copy of the third (image) one and paid £1 for it from a box full of them. I  sold it to someone telling them it was a boot and they were convinced I was wrong. I bought the second (image) one and it is identical to the one you have shown and believe it to be an original, It has a different font. Never seen it on a Canterbury boot with plain straight writing. The Tempos Countdown was on a burgundy coloured Canterbury boot.
