 hi everyone ,,,

last night at the bentinck it was very slow to start of ,,,,may be due to 3 factors ,,

1&2 there were 2 venues on our night close by ,,,

the other a few had gone away for the bank holiday ,,,

but has the night progressed 9 to 9.30 the rooms started to fill up ,,,

and we ended up only slightly down on our average ,,,

the dance floor started to get busy ,,,

and we all had a great night ,,,

so come DJS please post your play list so everyone can see what was played on this great night ,,,

coments welcome about the night ,,,

the djs on the night played great tunes all night ,,so a big thanks to the djs on the night

they are as follows,,

guests nige brown ,,john heaney,,, cunnie,,

residents cressy ,,mick,,mark hopes and ray,,,

and a big thankyou for every one who came out on a cold night to surport us ,,,

till next time ,,, enjoy the soul and keep well ,,,

Agree with the above: Nige did what was necessary; `Get `em up and dancin!!` which he did very well. Cressy Played some stuff that we were able to dance to and so all in all (for us) worth braving the cold night air for!! (Sorry about the grammar!)

Big thanks to Pete & Cressy for asking me to spin a few tracks in the Backroom. Really enjoyed it guy's

Also thanks to everybody who braved the weather on a lousy night.

Was well worth the journey down through the blizzard ridden M1.

Have burned a few cd's (12) of my spot off with a couple of bonus tracks but would like them to go to Backroom regulars.

PM me your address if you'd like a copy posting.

My playlist as follows.

Ramsay & co - Love Call (12" re-edit)

King Tutt - You Got Me Hung Up

Not been to Bentinck for a good while. Glad we went. Had a really good night. Didn't know which room to stay in but the main room started off with John Heaney playing a few underplayed bits, nice to listen too them in the background while yakking and catching up with a few folks. 2nd DJ, did try and get a dancefloor with a few oldies, seemed like the dancefloor didn't want to dance until about 10 o'clock though! 10pm it was either Cunnie or Nige Brown, we sat in the main room listening to Nige B and never made it into the back room to listen to Cunnie! Sorry Cunnie. Did manage to sneak in the backroom to listen to Mark Hopes, I lasted 3 odd records before Cressy played something which made my feet wanna dance which sent me back into the main room to throw myself out of shape on the dancefloor. I had a dance to a few from what a I remember, I blame the beer. You did a good spot Cressy, nice one :)

All in all, a good night :D

CHOOON !!!!!!!

Worth the admission charge for this one alone , sorry we missed it Cressy , more a back room tune but quality soul wherever it's played.

Any chance of Ray's and Mark's playlists to see what else we missed.

See you at the next one if not before.

1st time we had been up to Bentinck, luckily it fit in with some free time this month, really enjoyed the evening - good music - and atmosphere, and caught up with a few friends we'd not seen in a while..

we will endeavour to visit again real soon.

a bit late but here's my thoughts on the night...

bentinck miner's welfare in kirby-in-ashfield is a perfectly formed mid-sized venue where one can and does access northern and rare soul of the utmost quality.

the dance floor is a dream to use although, it does have a slight fall-off from left to right when facing the stage but once one gets used to this then it's a dream to your sole to interpet your soul. this is in the 'big room' or the 'main room' where across the bosrd is the order of the day.

being a bank holiday (good friday) the attendance was a bit light on numbers but not on enthusiasm. john hearney popped in from his residency at a rival club (who put an event on the SAME NIGHT as bentinck!!!!) and did the 'warm-up' set but wasn't really able to bring the floor to life. resident mick payne was next and also had the same problem, i guess everybody had eaten their easter eggs early and were too poop to party!

guest in the main room nige brown was next and eventually got a connection with the floor which filled, and filled and stayed full right to the end of the other resident's set. (cressy, probably one of the most underated dee-jays in the east midlamnds).

i like bentinck miners, i like the people, i like the music policy, i like the dance floor, i also like the fact that there are two rooms, one for those who like their soul on the 'rarer' side. i missed cunnie and the others in that room because i like to dance and... there's just not a lot of room for dancing in the 'rare' room, but that does not detract from it's value, for hearing lesser played gems, other than the attic in mansfield there are not many places delivering this service.

a great night, a bit thin on the ground but well worth the 90 plus mile journey from snowy skegness)
