Ruby James "Getting mighty crowded" (version of Betty Everett)

Jimmy Hughes "Slipping Around" (great version of Art Freeman)

Tawny Reed "You cant take it away" (version of Azie Mortimer/Fred Hughes)

Anyone mentioned, TOM JONES-CAN`T BREAK THE NEWS, LONG JOHN BALDRY-DRIFTER? biggrin.gif

long john baldry also covered "let him go and let me love you" (flipside of ray pollard's drifter) and edwin starr's "sos". all tracks are on an album called "looking at long john baldry". quite a nice album, and rather cheap i recall...

album is called "do what you gotta do" and i think "let nobody love you" and "run like the devil" are complete crap compared to the other (original?) versions. just some sort of novelty value for both songs IMO.

Silky Spearman's version of IM A GOOD WOMAN is far superior to Barbara Lynn's which is also a gem I must add. Silky's version is more frantic and love the crazy guitar break. Very left field Soul/funk version.

Ruby James "Getting mighty crowded" (version of Betty Everett)

The b side of ELVIS COSTELLO'S HIGH FIDELITY is.............. ohmy.gif LOVE IT

I'm packing up my memories

And I'm gonna move all out of your heart

I'm turning in my keys

And I'm gonna move all out of your heart

'Cause there ain't room enough for two

In dreams that were made for me and you

I'm telling you, it's getting mighty crowded

Too crowded for me

It's getting mighty crowded

I'm gonna take these things of mine

And I'm gonna move all out of your life

Stop wasting my time

And I'm gonna move all out of your life

'Cause there ain't room enough for three

In dreams that were made for you and me

So you see, it's getting mighty crowded

Too crowded for me

It's getting mighty crowded

I'm saving you the trouble of putting me down

Starting on the double, yeah yeah

I'm gonna shop around

I'm gonna find another heart

Where I can live all by myself

Gonna find another heart

I don't have to share with anybody else

'Cause you don't treat me like you should

And hanging around this neighborhood is no good

It's getting mighty crowded

Too crowded for me, getting mighty crowded

I'm packing up my memories, getting mighty crowded

Too crowded for me, getting mighty crowded

Too crowded for me, getting mighty crowded

I LOVE IT :thumbup::D:(

Just been rakeing through my racks and a copy of Herbert Hunters "Hide nor Hair" on HIT stopped me with the thought of what other examples i could think off. To start here is a few to get rollin, lets have yours, the more obscure of the obscure the better!!

Ofcourse the HIT label will no doubt feature in this excersise!!

Ever heard Manhatten Transfers...The thought of loving you....

I picked up a Chris Farlow album the other week at a car boot " The art of " includes versions of Open the door to your heart , It was easier to hurt her [ Garnet Mimms ] , We're doing fine [ DD Warwick ] , I've been loving you too long [ Otis ] , Reach out I'll be there ,and What becomes of the brokenhearted .Open the door is pretty good and sounds like a duet [ PP Arnold ? ] to me , unless Chris is performing vocal gymnastics !! Best ,Eddie
