Ian Williams
Hi and thanks to everyone who came and made this a fantastic night! We had 100 plus through the door to drink, socialise and dance with the floor packed more or less continuously from 10pm onwards til finish. Thanks also to the crowd from Gloucester who came down - and sorry for only having three or four of the 20 or so tunes that were requested - you did dance to our other tunes though! Tunes played included the Spinners "What More Could A Boy Ask For" - (from 1978 Motown LP), "What Kind Of Lady" and "The Game Is Over" alongside "Suspicion", "I Can't Make It Anymore", "I Can't Change" and "My Love Is Your Love". Mike Shawe ripped up the floor then had to chip off to his night with Alex at The Park, but played the warm up tunes that quickly became dancers - cheers Mike. John Lloyd was our guest - his tunes have to be seen to be believed and he played some cracking tunes and then we did our best to keep it going til the end. Thanks to everyone involved who came to have a good time - if we were to sum up our nights I'd say that we play smaller cosy venues where there isn't pressure to fill the venue (although 100 attending is respectable) where the emphasis is on a friendly crowd intent on a good time with tunes that make you want to to dance - everyone always seems to enjoy themselves! No doubt we'll put up some playlists and photos shortly. Our fith anniversary approaches and now, after 5 years of perseverance, we can honestly say that Soul music is very much alive in Bristol. Next date is Sat May 3rd Thanks again and til next time Link to comment
Rocker
Fantastic night! Thanks to everyone who came! One of those nights that makes all the hard work worthwhile! We reckon around 10 of us ended up being chucked out onto The Triangle at the end of Hot Buttered Soul - next month is a bank holiday so we want to at least double that! Here's the event listing for May! Edited April 7, 2008 by Rocker Link to comment
