With only 2 hours sleep, here goes...

After a quick trip to Cov station to pick up Phil (no bloody trains coming to Rugby).

I got to the Benn Hall and, just like last time, people were arriving before it started.

Now this is very good accept that I hadn't even put my make-up on and had to run to the loos before anyone screamed... ohmy.gif

We had a steady stream in all evening and they were still arriving at 1am, after various other functions.

In this game, you never really know how numbers may be affected but we were pleasantly suprized by the turn out.

Big-up to NMD & Shoutin' The Blues, that room was brilliant...thanks Kev C for the idea...

Thanks to Triple A Ken... for doing the door and letting me play...I just couldn't sit still all night.

And lastly thanks to all who make my party (oops, Rugby) so much fun... thumbup.gif

Thanks for a great night Sian, you really deserve all the priase you get for putting together this top night. Thanks to "Front Door" Kenny for letting me in as his guest, every penny helps toward the piece of vinyl that I sold my soul for last night. back to tesco value and nights in front of the telly for me  .

Thanks to Lou for my early birthday present, The Angels - Go Out and Play, will play it at Blue Skies next Friday.

Thanks Del, for the flyingsaucers, I reckon it was all the sugar in those thtat kept me going all night.

Was great to see all the ladies of the SS LAAS and will post up the photos as soon as the camera has re-charged.

A very big special thanx to Mandy & Toby for the lift and talking me into going, you really are two of the bestest friends a girl could have.

Got home in the snow but all gone when I woke up.

Great music all night in the main room but spent quite a bit of time in little room dancing to the NMD crowd, great stuff guys.

Wow! What a fantastic night!

Had immense fun from beginning to end, music was as ever supurb. Theres just something about the crowd at Rugby that makes this a top night for me. Really friendly, a bit mad & up for it!! Thought all the DJs were on top form last night, they all keep the dancefloor flowing nicely.

Popped into the r'n'b room a few times & it was heaving! As usual was too busy talking (& tripping over peoples legs as i danced my way out of the doors! ) to dance as much as i'd have liked to!

Lovely as always to see Ang B (thanks for the new liver! ) & Paul, Fun & frolics, Lou & Woody, Moggy, line & Marie, Tina & fudge, Steve C, Phil, Jon & Sue Buck, Kenny, Del, Carole, Rob & Linda, Tabs & Charlie, Carrie & Paul, Toby & Mandy & everybody else who had their ears chewed off by me! Great to meet Chrissie & Garv at last! Can't wait to see that sslaas photo!!

Big thanks to Sian, Dean & Denise for without their hard work we wouldn't have the Rugby nighter!

Also thanks for the afterparty. The tea was spot on! thumbup.gif

See you in June! thumbup.gif

Well we made it!!!

After a great nite at Sounds of Soul, Hemel Me, Mark, Shane, Julie, Catherine n Paul made a quick dash up the M1 to Rugby

We had been undecided about whether to go here or middleton but as Dr Pickles n co's do was on we decided to combine the two.

So glad we did

What better way to be greated than by three lovely ladies n soul mates Ang Denise n Sian xxx

Lovely venue and a great up for it crowd room to dance n nice sound system.

Dont know who was on when we arrived but the tunes sounded great. Good to see Toby and Mandy there two top people imo and of course Chrissie xxx

Hello Del so good to meet u at last  n loads of familiar faces too numerous to mention.

both Barnsley and Ruby have the fantastic added extra of an RnB room which i find a great bonus and as James Troubles set was not really to my taste i found mysefl dancing my socks off in there for quite a while. Less room than the main floor but a really great crowd of mainly younger faces n dont know who the DJ was but he played out of his skin imo Thanks

Someone sed to me use the modern bits as a chance to rest chat and socialise!!! lol so i did that too until Dave Rimmer came on for the last hour and really picked things up till the end of the nite....Never heard Dave play a bad set so was worth the trip just for that, sorry i missed his first one

Anyway we will defo make it up there again soon

Even a three hour drive home in a blizzard didnt damped our enthusiasm

See you all soon ladies

Had a terrific time at Rugby. We went to the "Warm up" at Hemel then Helen kindly gave us a lift to Rugby (thanks Helen! x). Big hugs and hellos to Helen, Herbie, Shane and Julie, Kylee, Kylee's Dad, Denise, Clanger and Karen Herts SoulGirl and lovely to meet Sian, Ang B and Del. A really friendly and up for it crowd, we were made to feel really welcome and we dipped inbetween the two rooms - good stuff!

Surely I can't be the only one to have run up to Kylee's sister and give her a hug thinking it was her lol! wink.gif Gutted I missed out on the flying saucers - they must have been whipped up before we arrived at 2:00am!

Top prize goes to Helen who did a great job in getting us back safely and putting up with all our singing and high spirits in the back! Great company coming home, just a fantastic night.

See you all soon.

Didn't get there to just before 1.00 o'clock and as always a great friendly welcome on the door! Always a good sign when you go to a venue and what a venue this is. Top tunes in both rooms, great atmosphere and obviously Sian, Dean, Denise who work behind the scene put a lot of work and time into making this a top alnighter venue. I might be a little biased as having a great alnighter venue just up the road from us at Banbury. But we do travel to other alnighter venues and this one is up with them in my opinion. Every venue offers something different. I feel that at Rugby there is always something there for everyone. Good turnout, plenty of people still dancing at 5.00 o'clock and would probably still be there now if the lights had not been turned on. Talking to friends who were there at the start said the music has been fantastic from the minute they got there. Well done. Hope everybody got home alright in the snow. Hopefully won't have snow at the next one in June! (You never know with the great British weather biggrin.gif )

All the best for the future.

Had a really good night, didn't really go in the R&B room for very long so can't comment on that, but in the main room, James and Adam were very good and as someone has already said 'slimfast' Rimmer was his usual excellent self. Good to meet some SS'rs I haven't met before, Moggy Ang B and Barnsey and of course good to see a lot of the ones I already know. Sian Denise, Dean well done, even though Sian purposely put talc on the bit of floor I was dancing on smile.giftongue.gif

Bl**dy Hell !!!!

Just got up,,,6.30pm will listen to Will Banks Soul Perscription on BBC Radio Oxford until 9.00 and then go back to bed.

Wonderful night,

Brilliant venue

The Oxford Soul Club was out in force (dragged Steve out and even he was dancing)

Supurb music all night.

Paul and I only left the floor for a sip of beer or quick couple of drags of a fag.

I was the Idiot in the hat !!!!

(Gave me an excuse to go past the bowl of flying saucers) hahahahahahahahahahahaha

A BIG 'thank you' to all the organisers that gave us a perfect night, and the opportunity to meet many old and new friends.

Glad to see a lot of 'young' people there last night, in years to come, these will be the torch bearers of the music that we love.(we will be turning up with our Zimmer Frames)

Lots of love and see you at the next one.

Del.

First time for me at the Nighter, though I have enjoyed the ambience of Benn Hall before - my wife Annie hadn't - time to put that right - so it was always a must to get there despite a hectic week.

We weren't dissappointed - great venue, music and ambience throughout thumbup.gif

Thanks to Denise, Sian and Chrissie for the chats and welcome and now there's another couple of folks on Ebay I cannot honourably bid against !!

Good to see Winnie out and about again , and great to put faces to names on here - although I had met many before at various venues.

Particularly good to see Del and Rob again - twice in a month nearly gave me a shock however, Lou wouldn't let me plug in her chair and was particularly adept with that bloody stick and Maggie's new hairdo took me totally by suprise - Mr Rimmers however remains constant wicked.gif

Woody looked well and it was nice to get the chance to chat more than normal

Mr Onions was in fine fettle and a particular thanks to Jon Buck for playing a special record which had me casting away my ciggy and dashing Linford Christie Style to the floor

Rob Smith is a diamond too - thanks mate

We'll be back - hopefully to enjoy a full length version next time - will try to ensure nothing else interferes with getting there for the start next time

Thanks again

Wulfie :D

Many thanks for a great night ladies. The night started with a flurry of activity when a call from a very distressed Carole stating she'd had a blow out on the M1 doing 90 whilst travelling from Co Durham sparked Batman and Fatman (Rob and me) into rescue mode. By the time we returned with Carole in tow (not literally), it was me who had the distressed head on whilst she was as calm as you like.

Lovely to see Karl and Kate, I know he doesn't post on here but would like you to know that he loved the venue. I did assure him that musically this night wasn't as up front as it normally is but he and the rest of our party had a ball nonetheless.

Obviously good to see Carole out again. Del, I know your mind was understandably somewhere else - god bless. The two Jo's in true form. Fudge, Tina, Clanger, Simsy, Kenny, Shane, Woody and Mrs soul, Kylee, Barnsy, Ang, Winnie, Pete and a host other fine folk -good to see you all. Would have loved to have a chat with Helen had I known she was there. Huge thanks to Toby and Mandy (she's such a sweetie) for looking after (and selling) my records whilst rescuing Carole. James for playing the Lenny Williams and "the" tune which everyone loves before they know who/what it is - bloody purists - lol

Special thanks to Rob and Linda for allowing us to be entertained by the Nuneaton joker. Found someone who talks more bollox than me but god he was funny.

Turning out to be a second home for us now and future line ups look very exciting - especially June - :)

Couple of hic ups with the sound system which seemed to be ironed out (operator problems). Look forward to the next installment.

Another buzzing night at Rugby! Well done girls!

Loved the RnB room, great atmosphere, up for it crowd and some top sounds.

Good sets from all the DJs in the main room, as Steve said maybe not as upfront as some of the previous Rugby parties, but the floor was pretty much full all night, which is the norm at Rugby so no surprise there! I can't remember much about what I did, I was very drunk, very! I recall playing plenty of classics in both sets such as Tomangoes, Four Sights, Manifesto, Yvonne Vernee and a couple of requests like Johney Howard and Lenny Williams, first set was pretty much all known stuff, talking shit to Mik Parry in the RnB room, trying to avoid having to talk to Fudge and then spinning a couple more interesting bits in my second set including the The Jimmy Hendrix/ whats her name Brooks Utee thing, Cavaliers, and the Basement Jaxx bootleg. I tried to get my iPod hooked up to spin that new tune (landed on the door step this morning! arrgh)) but there wasn't enough room in the levels on the mixer to getting it sounding right, maybe a CD player next time! Vague memories of laying in the snow in Fudge and Tina's front garden wearing nothing but a pair of boxer shorts at 5 in the morning, not quite sure how that happened

It's all good, and again, well done Rugby! thumbsup.gif
