Hello!

Just wondered if anyone knows how much I should expect to pay for Donnie Elbert's 'Along Came Pride' 7"? It doesn't seem to be in my issue of the Price Guide....

I know it's on CBS and RCA (at least), although I'm not particularly bothered which issue I get...!

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Cheers

Jon

Correct.... UK CBS & UK Epic... but Jon is right, UK RCA also.

RCA 2271 B/W "Time Hangs On My Mind"

Flipside of the CBS and Epic issues is a cover of "Get Ready"

Now there's a track that Sean put me on to many years ago. Same tape with Soul Brothers Six on that I managed to prize from you and played at Warrington Parr Hall, how huge was that in the day....

Sorry, should have said I'd be very surprised... but it just ocurred to me that I've a couple of things that came out on UK CBS & UK Direction (Peaches & Herb etc.) but I'm pretty sure Donnie Elbert isn't one of 'em!

Please check if you get a mo. Got me very intrigued.

Probably won't sleep tonight now!

"Get Ready"/"Along Came Pride" (to put the A side and B side in the right order  ) actually came out twice on UK CBS, with about a 12 month gap separating the two issues, but I'm as sure as you are that it didn't come out on Direction as well.

BTW I'm not sure where de-to's getting a value of a fiver for a 1967 first issue from, but I sold my 1968 second issue CBS for £20.00 just over a year ago - not in the best of conditions, VG+ at the very best - and I got £20.00 for it!

Yes Sean that is RIGHT, But Surely That Is Because you are on NIGHT FEED DUTIES Sean

BEST BULLY

I leave all that stuff to them that does it best, mate...

...But, while the little berger's screaming the place down, I do tend to get a bit of post bedtime surfing in!

PS: Just watch SunnySoul come up with a copy now we've painted ourselves into a corner!

And, no, I didn't sleep... just thinking about the possibility!

How sad is that?

Just dug this out of my second issues box.........but have to admit it has the CBS 2807 number.....so how can you tell the 1st CBS issue from the 2nd CBS issue........I'm assuming I knew at one time......either that or this was put in my second issues box by mistake.......can anyone help a confused man??

That's an easy one - although they both have the same number (I think!) the copy that Roger (45cellar) scanned is a first issue, with large font. The font on the second CBS issue is much smaller, similar to how it is on the Epic 45 that Roger was also kind enough to scan.

Although I originally though that I'd sold it, I have since recalled that the bastard who wanted it didn't ever send me the twenty quid, so I'm pretty sure that I still have my 'second issue' in a spares box somewhere. I'll have a rake through over the weekend and if I do still have it , I'll post it up...

Thanks Tony.....I've got the first issue then.....I reckon at sometime in the past I must have thought that CBS was a reissue full stop! Probably not helped by the fact the paper used on the label is the shiny paper as opposed to other stuff I have on CBS from the time on the more orange grainy paper label (if that makes sense????)

Anyway a great record that deserves its day........don't we say that about most of them!

I finally managed to pick up a copy of this last week for $4 (£2) from a shop in Orlando, Florida...... strangely enough it was a 1967 UK issue on Epic.....

I'll be posting some details of shops to check out in Orlando soon if anyone's interested.....

Cheers

Would be VERY 'strangely enough' if it was a 1967 UK issue on Epic - CBS didn't introduce the Epic label in the UK until 1970-ish!

The copy that you've bought (and that Roger was kind enough to scan the label of, previously) is the 1972 reissue, with the original 1967 release date on the labels...

Oh!!!! Yep, I just saw the (P) 1967 date and assumed it was from then.... blame it on the jetlag, I only got back today wink.gif

Subtle difference between the other CBS scan above , this one is

1st or second issue ????

post-9385-1211126435_thumb.jpg

Second issue, from 1968. About March 1968, if memory serves - CBS started using this smaller font around the beginning of 1968.
