INCREDIBLE BACK TO BACK 45'S

Recommended Posts

Guest photo

Just wanted to know anyones favourite back to back 45's

you know real quality 7" singles where you have to constantly change which way you place said record in your box.

Just a few from my own collection, in which i always put the plug side down, only to change my mind at the last second.

First up Bud Harper "Let Me Love You" b/w " Mr Soul" on Peacock

Charlie Hodges "loving You ( Is Beautiful )" b/w "The Day He Made You" on Calla

Ruby Winters " Better" b/w " "I Want Action" on Diamond

Norman Charles " This Is Gonna Hurt" b/w " Shes A Woman" on Columbia

Marie Knight " You Lie So Well" b/w " A Little Too Lonely" on Musicor and lastly before i go on all day Jean Wells " Have A Little Mercy" b/w " With My Love And What You've Got" on Calla (Demo).

Look forward to any others,

Brett

Hi mike, i've noticed you've got in the "sounds" section the Chollo Rivera 45'......damn fine record.......have you got

" True Love" by "The Terrible Frankie Nieves" on Speed, if not it's that fabulous Boogaloo sound with the Barbara Acklin "Am I The Same Girl" backing track to Mr Nieves wonderful lyrics.

One i'm fond of playing to freinds, who all love it.

Allright Brett

The Chollo Rivera was up previously as a "whatcha think" track, didnt want to give away name then as "latin drivers" may have influenced view.

Its flip of their Black and Blues - a uptempo latin tinged thing which almost makes it but a bit "messy". Though have seen it a 3 fig and classed as a mod killer

Havn't heard track "True Love", 45 ? if so whats other side, sounds like could be interesting

There's also a version of i could never hurt you girl by Ralfi Pagan, which after hearing, anyone pass on how compares to Chollo Rivers one

Hi mike, the flip to Frankie Nieves is "Amor Sincero", it's a spanish cut of the plug side, the speed label is out of New york, i also have their album but it does not include the afore mentioned track

Back to the original thread, it may not be rare, or fashionable but what about, The intruders "Check yourself" B/W "It Must Be Love" on Gamble. Or Even the Ambers "Potion Of Love", and "Another Love". Stunning!

As I always say. you cant beat the oldies:

Sharon Scott - I'd like to know/Could it be you RCA

and has to be the best double sider ever

Larry Atkins _Lighten up/Aint that love enough. Highland

Sorry for being obvious, but you cant beat pure Northern Soul class.

Here's one I tried the flip of the other day and it sounds good to me, Ronnie Walker - You're The One / Thanks To You.

Anyone tried the flip of First Choice - This Is The House Where Love Died? Can't remember off hand the title but it's a good spin.

Cheers

Richard

Thelma Lindsey B side 'Why weren't you there' absolutely stunning track much better (IMHO!) than the A side.

Other two-sided greats

Percy & Them - Look in the mirror of my eyes/ Trying to find a new love (Roulette)

The Four Voices - Your love is getting stronger/With a lonely heart (Voice)

The Ghetto Children - It's not easy to say goodbye/Don't take your sweet loving away (Roulette)

Bobby Sheen - Dr Love/Sweet, sweet love (Capitol)

Frankie Saunders - Take another look/Bluestime in Birmingham (Juana)

Jo ann Garrett - A whole new plan/Stand by my side (Chess)

Delegates of Soul - I'll come running back/What a lucky guy I am (Uptite)

Jack Montgomery - Dearly Beloved/Do you believe it (Sceptre)

Lou Ragland - Since you said you'd be mine/I didn't mean to love you (WB)

Chubby and the Turnpikes - I didn't try/I know the inside story (Capitol)

Marv Johnson - I miss you baby/Just the way you are (absolute cracker - if you've not heard it get a listen of this if you can - even better buy it blind, you'll not be disappointed) (Gordy only, i.e. not on the B side of the TMG issue of I miss you baby)

To name but a few tasty two-siders

Regards

Brian Ellis
