Well we all got our stuff from Flemmings in Walton Road .... and they did their own white jeans ... looked the bizz with Ox Blood Doc Martins ...

Some of the older Wheel and Torch lads were really cool, Harrington jackets, Levi Sta-prest trousers, Ben Sherman shirts. By '73 the older guys were kind of scruffy, long hair, baggy cords and vests. This turned into a kind of cartoon soulie look, by '74.  Copied by many, really wide trousers with loads of pockets and a high waistband, braces, sweatbands, vests with badges stitched on. '75 was parallel trousers with 2 pleats, original US Bowling shirts or baseball shirts and white socks. Then the Mecca kicked in with fuzzy mohair jumpers, peg style trousers, long hair fringes, constantly flicked ( Mecca Jerk ) ! '76 Casino lads moved to short hair, cap sleeve t-shirts and peg style jeans. By '78 It was just jeans and a T shirt. The fashions that we love stick...Shirts with logo's on the back, smart trousers, short hair, shiny shoes. I can spot a Casino/ Mecca veteran from 50 yards.

Bit late on this one guys....but anyone remember Ray Seams? Parallel leg with a pronounced 'flap' the whole length of the seam. 

Me old mate Kimbo will no doubt come on with correct terminology!!?

Also not seen a mention of Porky Pie shoes? Modern equivalent probably being Camper type pumps but with very pronounced pork pie edging? Common in shoe-town Rushden.

And our mum used to knit us tank tops.

And dare I mention berets!? Me and Phil Attley wore 'em for a while.

Yeh  couse I do mate living in Corby at the time and all that,the trousers were also known to us as ray seams and could be nicked from Roadknights in Kettering along with other satorial goods at that time.The pork pie shoes were like a sort of lace up loafer,moccassin like stitched front and had leather soles?They never had a patch though on Rugs solatio shoe held together with and elastic band over the front of it to stop the sole from flapping.When he let the sole out to play by removing the elastic band he would make it talk like a vetriloquists dummy,he gave it the name "Thladmead"???????

I think that kind of"scuffy",baggy cords ,feathercut hair (dont know about the vests/)half sleeve shirt,bomber jacket look was smart then it hit the boundary line of nipple band  "Chesters",(height of band extending from waistline)multi pocket,button,flap, trousers.Which wasnt smart, The "Chesters", genre of pants was truely terrible!  Phoo ken Spenc.......oops Chesters!

Road knights! Our cousin used to manage the Rushden branch for a few years. Crikey - forgot all about that til you mentioned it.

Long grey leather coat ( from mums catalogue). A suit bought from a local tailor. Black, three button front, centre 12" vent, thin lapels, trousers, 2 pleats 24" bottoms....waited 6 weeks for it. White Ben Sherman shirt and a black striped tie, Got changed at an All-Nighter...a black bowling shirt from an ad in Blues and Soul, I got lucky... gold print on the back, " Suzies Astros - Chicago" Kobi peg jeans, pockets like buckets and knee patches, white socks and dead cheap black shoes with a soft sole that weighed nothing.
