Guest
Went to the relatively new northern night in Lincolnshire last week and it is a really good venue, if you get the chance to check it out have a look, It is on the 3rd Saturday in the month 8-2. They have loads of room for tents and caravans in the summer, bit out in the wilds but that's not a bad thing. Some cracking dj's there, most not on the regular circuit so made a change to hear them and they play some decent stuff, the atmosphere was great, bit too comfy with all the big sofas outside the main hall mind you. Guest
I hear the crazy beggars even put a complimentary bottle of talc on all the tables at the first one, is this true? Sounds like a good crack. Will deffo have a look at this one. Link to comment
Guest
Yes they did put out free talc, you should have seen the room at the end of the night, they will not do that again in a hurry I bet. Gets people from all over, I spoke to someone who had travelled 200+ miles at the last one. Link to comment

Guest
Review of the March northern night The music policy this time was across the board but with the usual oldies and crossover requests and it seems to have had the desired effect, a few new faces and a tremendous atmosphere was created by a good crowd, the comments from those that attended for the first time were very positive. This venue is far too good for a northern night was a comment by one cheeky B. New management who seem to really know what they are doing did a roaring trade on the food, a big tv and comfy leather sofas all around the place give you an alternative to the main hall if you just want to chill. Dougie started and finished the night as usual and did some really good sets, I see his name cropping up on all the flyers so he is much in demand, Rupe surprised me, we said modern could be played and I feared for the worst yet he played oldies and basically what he liked and it went down a storm. I missed most of Chris Forrest which is a crime as he always plays to my taste, what I heard was good but I was trapped in a corner of the bar being forced to drink lots of beer. Nick Borst was playing for the first time here and after such a strong performance has been added to the regular DJ list, another DJ who just enjoys the music and no ego to get in the way. Dave Raistrick was enjoying it, I didn't know he could dance did you? man of many talent this chap. Again thanks to those that braved the strong winds to get to this outpost of soul, not least the guys who got a taxi all the way from Sleaford, hope you enjoyed it chaps. See you in April. Send me your comments as usual, good or bad it all helps to improve things. Nick nick@northernsoulmusic.co.uk Link to comment

Nick_R
APRIL EVENT REPORT The music policy again was across the board and there were very few tracks repeated all night, A lot of good comments again and despite the excess talc this was the best night yet apart from the first one which will never be equalled. We had 3 DJ's on who had not played here before and all seemed to enjoy the surroundings and the superb atmosphere which kicked in very early on, Rick Todd, Yocky and Steve Handbury were told play what you want as it is across the board and they mixed it up very well, the crowd seemed to like it anyway as the floor was already packed around 9 o'clock when I looked in. I heard a few comments on how there was stuff played there that had not been heard out for years, so we are getting away from the overplayed sounds a bit now. The regular DJ's were not outdone and the first hour from Dougie and Rupe paved the way, the spots were mixed up in half hour stints and it keeps you guessing a bit as to who is on. Chris Forrest shone as usual but old Mr Raistrick decided to have a bit of a rest as we had a DJ overload (any excuse to sell his records). Again big thanks to those that travelled so far including the guys from Newbury, hope you enjoyed it chaps. See you in May I Hope. Also the Cleethorpes crowd whose bus let them down and they drummed up reserve transport at short notice, good to see so many of you there again. NEXT ONE IS ON MAY 15th The June 19th event will see Pete Taylor (Annesley) guest for the first time. For any details please see my site www.northernsoulmusic.co.uk Link to comment
