If Corrine is as good a dj as her singing then it will be good, saw her at Jazz Cafe with Peter Young, Jazz FM, she was brilliant, had a chat after. Link to comment

Guest andys165
Well Karen, life is all about choices. You don't have to bring your own beer to our bash, we have two bars, but hey - if we don't see you this month, maybe next time. Enjoy yourself whereever you turn up Andy Link to comment
Guest dkd
link Karen - for what its worth my thoughts would be (all dependant on you having access to a car of course) -if you are not fussed about having a drink come to Walls of Heartache first, stay for Corine's set (she should be on around 10 or so), then race off to hemel Hemstead, which should take half an hour or so, at breakneck speed - alternatively go to Hemel first then come to us for late night boozing (you can always try and blag a reduced entry fee for arriving late, but as its our wives on the door I'm afraid I cant guarantee sucess). I see you got involved in the great Pliston debate - speaking as a newcomer to the scene (I only got into the music a couple of years ago when, having treated myself to a proper jukebox for my fortieth birthday, my wife insisted on putting on her old Casino 45's), mateys comments about promotors, DJ's etc are a little sad when we should all just be enjoying the music and the people. Apologies for rambling, hope you can make it on the 30th - if not maybe next time Dave Link to comment

I will do above - get to you first for Corrine's set and then go to Jon's do, as I always miss his due to clashes with other things but if I say Im going somewhere I try my best to keep to it, so even if I get to Jon's about midnight at least I have about an hour or so! See you there, Ill just have to dance in my coat! Link to comment
Guest andys165
Karen We salute you. Ask the girls on the door to point out either me or Dave and we'll buy you a drink for your sterling efforts. Corinne will be doing 10pm-11.30. Andy Link to comment

Guest
Hold on a minute. KarenB isn't sure if she can come and she gets free drinks, I've been to every Walls of H so far and I get nowt (oh, except the free Easter Egg last month). Regulars rights! Fight for them now! Eddie Link to comment
Guest andys165
Eddie We give you free chocolate, we give you new films every month...all for £4. There's no pleasing some people. And to think I was planning to play a couple of ska sides to keep you happy this month. Andy PS We are are planning to bring in a membership card for our regulars and that will enable you to be first on the floor when I put on 'The Night'. You might have to fight with The Wedding Couple © for that elusive 001 membership number. Link to comment
Guest dkd
Don't worry Eddie - come and see me on the night and I will buy you a drink or two (I always feel guilty because I seem to be drunk by the end of each night but dont appear to have spent any money). By the way - anything particular you would like us to play? Dave Link to comment
Guest
Thanks Dave - you guys are so damned nice! As it happens you and your DJ partner stand accused of not having played any James Carr in the past 3 months and I for one want to know why! How about a couple of ska tracks early on, before Swing Out Sister does her thing? Yours always Eddie Link to comment
Guest andys165
Ah the mighty James Carr. Not sure 'Dark End Of The Street' would fill the floor but I am tracking a few things on Ebay at the moment so you never know. I do love that voice. Just got PP Arnold's 'Am I Still Dreaming' and can't wait to air that one next week. Andy Link to comment

Guest
You guys mention Stax on your posters/flyers but you don't seem to play a lot of it. Is there any reason for that - lack of vinyl, lack of 'stompers' on the label. Just interested, not a crticism as such. I'm hoping to bring a few pals down next week for their WOH baptisms. Is Corinne still as lovely as she was when she was a bob-haired superstar in the 80s? Eddie PS PP Arnold - v good. Link to comment
Guest andys165
Errr, Rufus Thomas, Bar-kays, Sam & Dave??? Must have had one too many shandies, Eddie. Actually I do find that a lot of Stax is either too bluesy (Freddie Taylor) or a bit slow paced for our night. We do play it though - Booker T? I'll dig some out for you especially and if you bring a lady friend I'll play Carla Thomas 'Pick Up The Pieces' so you can have a smooch. Deal? Andy Link to comment
Guest dkd
Sorry Eddie, once again I have to agree with Andy on the Stax issue. Howevr I do always try and slip something on Stax into my early set. We are hwever talking to a couple of potential guest DJ's both of whom are interested in doing an early, Stax only set so you may get your wish after all - but early days yet in the discussions. Guest dkd
Aplogies for the typing errors in my last post - I have not even had a drink yet, although I am just off out the door to Stow-Away-Soul, which is on tonight. Dave Link to comment
Guest andys165
Just had a lovely email from Corinne Drewery saying she's v excited about next Saturday - guesting at Walls Of Heartache. She also says some SOS fans may be coming along so be prepared for the odd scream and autogrpah book waving when Ms D. steps up to the decks. Marvellous!! Contrary to what is says on our website www.wallsofheartache.co.uk, we open at 8.30pm. Andy Link to comment
Guest
My contacts darn sarf tell me you might be doing a one of Walls Of Heartache in Brighton this summer. Any truth to this? Would love to tie in a run on the scooter with a bit of shuffling to your regular tunes. Thinking of coming in full 80s garb on Saturday to celebrate Ms Drewery's guest slot. Eddie Link to comment
Guest andys165
Crikey - news travels fast. Yes we have been asked, but no date or venue as yet so stay tuned. We have quite a few mates down that way and some of them are involved with a venue or two and are looking into things on our behalf. Have some bad memories of my days in a band, playing some indie club on the seafront. Quadrophenia it wasn't! Speaking of which, did you know Phil Daniels is still playing football in North London every Sunday morning. Thinking of asking him to guest at Walls of Heartache - would have to be a Bakn Holiday weekend! He has loads of vinyl. Andy Link to comment
Guest
Phil Daniels? What about Sting or Lesley Ash? Still a great film. By the way I got a ticket for Booker T and the MGs at the Barbican with Eddy Floyd and William Bell. I'm still floating. Looking forward to it on Saturday. eddie Link to comment

Guest dkd
link Eddie you do have some interesting contacts to pick up on the Brighton 'proposal' so quickly. However we might have something else up our sleeves for later in the Year that you are welcome to to beaver around and try and suss out! Thanks however for the interest - you (no doubt) will be the first to know when we have something concrete to go on. See you Saturday, Dave Link to comment
Guest AudraT
Hi There We can't make it down on Saturday night I am afraid. Martin is DJ'ing at Crossfire this Saturday night. A rare night out with babysitter - hope you guys have a great night. Audra Link to comment
Guest
Hi I'm afraid it's one of THOSE questions. At the last event (and I didn't get my easter egg or the free peanuts !), what was the track you played about 10:30pm which got everyone going (mad on the floor, not out the door) ?? Link to comment
Guest dkd
Good question - unfortunately I think that was around the time our guest DJ Mike was kicking off his set - Andy was on just before him, so it might have been one of his.. If Andy can't recall I will contact Mike for you, Caister Girl. Hope you can make it down on Saturday, we may have some answers by then. Dave Link to comment
Guest dkd
Just like to say thanks to everyone that came along on Saturday and particularly to our guest DJ Corrine, who not only played an excellent Northern set but stayed around for dancing and chat until the end (she is a top person too, who even offered us a lift home at the end of the evening!) I know we certainly enjoyed the night and hope you did to. Apologies for the crowded dance floor which did cramp a few peoples style, but this did ease off fairly quickly as people discovered the back room. Dave Link to comment

Guest andys165
Crikey Andy - what a nightmare. Dead chuffed you made the attempt and maybe we'll see you at WOH in the future - last Saturday of the month. Just sorting out some pics so you can see what you missed. Will try and post before the football. Big thanks to everyone for showing up in numbers again (even the lady with the Pink Floyd fixation!) - we are trying to increase the dance floor area for end of May night. Andy Link to comment
