If you were around in the mid 80's you know that there was more going on, on the Northern Scene than just Stafford....The Allnighters preceded by the Alldayer's ran @ the Unicorn Club in Leighton Buzzard from 1984 & moving to the Bossard Halll running till 1990....I have a large selection of photo's that mainly feature "The RSG Buzzard Day's" & a lot more @ Members Gallery....RSG Hall of Fame vol 1 & 2 ....RSG new exellent venue June 3rd @ Bicester see Flyers for details....

Keep @ It

whistling.gif Have loved the photos mate and you and I have chatted long and hard about those glory days. Like many who thought it would never end I was too buy keeping at it and discovering and dancing to the soul to take photos (only a handful) and your pics have been so important to me and others so, Jon Buck, you get my TOP MAN award. beer.gif

* Please God you've got none at drummons with Jane in the rubber :shades:

unsure.gif Yes, a book, great idea and one myself and the lads around here have been talking about for some time. That way people would understand the real Northern Soul world and be shocked to discover that it wasn't just Wigan Casino and the Mecca and that the South and the Midlands played a HUGE part in the development of the scene and kept the faith through the long dark nights of the 80's and early 90's!

Second that emotion ranting_1.gif Can't say same about pics :( Wedge hair was all the rage back then  Remember:- Danny Huff in Ravel loafers, way big baggies :( Tony Galla blasting, peanut duck etc and Keb playing the Topics. Remember one night stopping the old Fiat Mirafiori, picking up a flashing traffic lamp going to the nighter, coming back and (for a psychedelic laugh) replacing in the same position :( Oh to be n n n n nineteen again! :D:D:D

It overwhelms me the amount of photos you have actually got from this period Jon, like i said to you before, it was a real novelty to have a niter just 20 minutes away(by train) not forgetting quite a few northen based soulies who also trekked down there. It's been wonderful seeing pics of old friends and also at times, sad, to all those who mock some female soulies for wearing full circle skirts, looking at Jon's pics, it's obivious that the style never left the scene, i wouldn't personally wear it now, purely because i would look like a walking marquee tent :huh:ranting_1.gif !!!!!!Del xxx( and i agree with what's been said, this would make a fantastic book)

Great pictures Jon,brings back a lot of memories, especially faces who slip to the back of your mind after the years(Dave Wise :D )

Enjoyed the nighters immensley, but for me the dayers after Stafford were the best way to wind down.............then back up the weekend  can´t beat a belly full of beer after a headfull of gear

Always was a fun atmosphere ,ut still convinced the dancing competitions were rigged  How come Denis won so often :D

No photo´s of Graham"The Presenter" surprised me,

at least Sybille believes me when i say i  used to be REALLY goodlooking :D

You put it in a lot of effort at an important time mate :D ,to be honest the good times we had, regardless of attendances(Stafford as well) made the barren years enjoyable ,at least the people who were there then really were up for it :D

Hi mate, just looking through messages after looking at Buckys pics. Saw your mention of Dave Wise! I saw him a while back at Rolands 50th birthday party, along with Strug & Heather from Cannock etc. Wisey spends most weekends racing cars with his sons.  Good to see the pics.  Alan.

Happy days  Steve

last time I saw Dave Wyse was some years back, he boasted about going to do's on the back of his sons scooter!

Is he still as full-on as ever?

Jerry.

Jerry, I see Dave now & then, saw him couple of months ago at Rolands 50th party. still fairly lively. Spends most weekends racing cars with his sons, oldest son is about 32 I think! Alan Eames.

Jon,

Excellent album there mate - brought back quite a few good memories, I can tell you!!

Can't believe you got one of me as well; Don't remember you taking it, so I must have been well tanked up - OMG!! The line up in the pic (anti-clockwise from me) are Nikki (Anton's wife), Dave Taylor, Anton and Ken (an old friend who lived in the same house as Anton and Nikki in the Bromley days).

Hope to see you and Sue at some point - take care 'til then.

Best,

Gene

Had a tape recorder at one of the nighters and Danny's hand over just always sticks in my mind ...

"Thanks to Keb for the last half hour, you got me for the next and er, as usual a few oldies, a few new stuff and of course for those who want em, a few modern sounds". "Kicking off with this one, Rufus Lumley, I'm standing".

Happy days ...
