Dave Thorley
Just got back from a great weekend in the stunning city of Lucerne. Sitting on the edge of a lake and surrounded by mountains, such a pretty city. All the venues choosen were great, friday nights event was busy, hot and steamy. Saturday and sunday alldayers in the function room of a cool, hip cafe, nice way to chillout to a great across the board play list. Saturday night was in one of the best venues I've been in, in a while, loved the monster chandelier hanging over the dancefloor. People danced to every style of soul played, classic northern, modern, crossover and funk. DJ's from all over europe kept everyone very happy. Nice to see the spanish guys, Albert and co, Barbara Grassie and the German crew (SuSu, Ozzie, Flo, Seb and Chrissy). Hank, Thomas and Rafu worked very hard to make us welcome and at putting on thier second excellent weekender. I haven't eaten so much cheese ever!!!!!!!! , Oh my poor gall stone. I'm sure Roddy will put up his play (drinks) list later See you all soon guys Dave Edited January 19, 2009 by Dave Thorley Link to comment

Guest
I CANNOT FIND THE WORDS TO SAY HOW MUCH I AM HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND SUCH A WARM AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE IN LUZERN... SURE THE SWISS SOUL WEEKENDER WILL BE A FIXED DATE ON MY CALENDAR, NEXT YEAR!!! FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO THANK WITH ALL MY HEART THE SWISS GUYS, FOR HAVING ORGANIZED SUCH A GREAT WEEKENDER, AND HAVING INVITED ME TO PLAY RECORDS.. BIG, BIG HONOUR FOR ME! ..THEN MY SPANISH GUARDIAN ANGELS - JC, ALBERT AND CARLES - FOR HAVING TAKEN CARE OF ME. ..LIAM AND THE SAMPDORIA FANS FROM MANCHESTER, WHO TRIED TO CHEER ME UP WHEN I GOT MY SUDDEN 'MEAN REDS'.. ..ALL THE DJS, FOR THE AWESOME MUSIC PLAYED.. ..MY DEAR FRIEND MARCO 'YUL' MORETTI, WHO WAS SO KIND AND OFFERED TO COME WITH ME, EVEN WITHOUT HAVING A CLUE WHERE THE SOUL WEEKENDER WAS! ..THANKS TO FLO, WHO CALMED ME DOWN AFTER THE OWNER OF THE CLUB RUDELY PUSHED ME OUT OF THE DECKS, SHOUTING THAT THE MUSIC WAS TOO LOUD.... (STILL WONDER HOW HE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I SHOUTED BACK TO HIM... SOME RUDE ITALIAN WORDS ARE INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN... ) AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, A SPECIAL MENTION TO THE ONE TO WHOM I DEDICATED ALL MY SONGS... HEAD UP, HONEY! IN SIX WEEKS YOU WILL BE BACK ON THE DANCEFLOOR AND READY FOR YOUR HONDA CIVIC RACE CAR!!! PLAYLIST WILL FOLLOW... PROMISE!!! CIAO, BARBARA X p.s. Just a few words to remember Rob Hirst, who passed away last sunday. We didn't have the same tastes, but we shared the same love for soul music... his enthusiasm was really awesome. Really a party guy! Sure he will find a way to get a party Up There.. Sorry in advance, if you may think that this is not the appropriate thread for this post...
