just bought a casio wave ceptor watch, that apparently recieves signals from a sattelite that updates the time every 4 hours or so, after time has been set its all up to the sattelite to keep it accurate, if this is correct how can i trust another clock or watch to give me the correct time, i,m not being cynical or anything but the instructions with the watch tell you to leave it near a window every now and then so it gets updated properly  , great looking late 70,s style,

also had one of those pulsar kinetic watches that automatically wind up from the action of your wrist, left in on one night when i went to bed, woke up and it was four hours fast

i may be in danger of making a twot of myself here, but here i go, ive got a rather beautiful watch, i think it may be a ladies watch due to the size, its made by a company called "west end", it looks like its from the late 40,s, any info from you watch fans,

by the way i wear a citizen eco drive skyhawk thing that weighs about 3 lbs and makes me look and feel like a council estate james bond

I used to have a Swatch Watch when they first came out in the 80's. Mine even had the "Swatch Guard" which was some weird rubber plastic contraption to place over the wathc face to protect it. My watch had pink oblong blocks on the face. It was quite something back then!

I can't afford to pay attention never mind buy a new watch tongue.gif

But I do have one of the original Swatch watches. At the very beginning they came in black or white, no fancy colorful ones.

Don't know how much it is worth.

I have had too many Sunday mornings where the battery powered watch wasn't working so I switched back to good old fashioned mechanical watches. :whistling:

Haven't read all of the thread so not sure if Tag's have been mentioned but I was only saying yesterday that my Tag has never let me down & thats after 13 years of getting up to allsorts wicked.giflaugh.gif

The only down side for me now is that as it's a sports watch its not blingy & glitzy enough for a night out so my evening favourite is a cheap £8 watch from Claire's accessories of all places & that little cheap watch has beat the likes of a Morgan watch & a Next watch that I had.

So for

Daytime wear - Tag Heuer does it for me

&

Evening wear - My Claires Accessories 8 quidder

ooh & also another category that has just sprung to mind

Swim wear wicked.gif - Tag Heuer again - 200 metres although I've never tested it or wanted to test it as deep as that.

I once got given a huge TAG Heur watch as a gift, it weighed a ton, came with original cert and cool

box but far too big to wear. Must be designed for all those hefty Germans :whistling:.

The ladies range are far daintier & although still a sports watch (to which I dont do any laugh.gif ) for longevity & reliability these watches, for me, are worth every penny out of your swiss bank account biggrin.gif

Nowt will beat my Mickey Mouse watch with yellow + dark blue strap and just to enhance it i had my matching coloured snake belt to go with my then 28" waist. Both worn on my visits to the Casino around about 75/76.

i might even be tempted to let it go to a man who needs a 7th watch to complete his 'one for every day' collection (if the price was right :P )

i could always be open to offers

This guy is very highly regarded by us vintage watch lunatics. Very reasonable prices to boot.

Breitling now has no link to the older incarnation of the company. It's another company that bought the name when Breitling went out of business back in the late 70s/early 80s. I'm not sure if they support older models in the same way that Omega or Rolex do. However, I don't think it will be too problematic finding a chronograph pusher for it.

Chris, you are obsessed!!!!! vinyl I can understand, but watches no.gif besides, how many days are there in your week g.giflaugh.gif

It all started innocently enough, you know, the odd cheap Chinese quartz watch at a fiver a go, then I moved on to Japanese models, Seiko, Citizen, Orient & Fuji, I still didn't realise how hooked I was getting, although I should have seen it coming after all these watches were now costing me £30.00+ a pop.........................Then there was no turning back, one crazy day in December I went for the big one.............a Swiss Tissot...............what a buzz, I was spaced out that's for sure................there was no stopping me now, Tugaris, Rado and then...............and then...............the watchmans wet dream an Omega............I blew half my yearly bonus (no I'm not a banker;-). I'm now in re-hab the watch buying has stopped the doctor said that cutting my arms off could help although he has patients who put the watches on their prostetic limbs, i'm sure I'm not that addicted...........we'll see..................

I was given a Tag Careara from work as a way of rewarding excelence. It is a beautiful piece of engineering. Had to decide whether to keep it or not as I normally wear a white faced Explorer II, which I have always loved and never get bored of.

Decided to sell it and even put it in sales on here, bit its gone now.

As Baz mentioned Bulgari, a friend of mine had one and I've never seen one since - it was rubber!

I got as a present a Tag Heuer, it was about the size of a small van !!! I sold it on Ebay about 1 year after I got it, it was in the cupboard drawer and would have stayed there for ever. At the moemnt I can't take my Tugaris off, it cost me only £15 including postage and is fabulous, keeps accurate time, looks like new and if it goes off in a year or 2 then I've had me moneys worth. thumbup.gif
