I have seen on jewel white demo with logo and jewel blue with logo. But there's an other on Jewel light green with no logo ! It's a reissue, boot or legal issue ? On the fine beat ballad penned and produced by bluesman Peppermint Harris "I Wanna Weep" she is most effective - clearly she wasn't afraid to let it rip generating a fair amount of emotion from the song. Some dance fans have started to pick up on this number showing that their tastes aren't all bad. The local issue of this cut has a Houston, TX address so that was maybe where she came from. I found info on the sirshambling site and it seems that she has released only one 7''. The Mona release has to be very rare !! Anyone have the green release with no logo ?? I asked about this record a few years back. I was offered a copy but it was a dark blue Jewel label, i`d never seen a blue one only the green you have above. Did`t buy as wasn`t sure if it was legit. The Jewel label for the blues series was green, ranging from dark green to light blue-green. It had black print, with the Jewel logo on top. The Jewel label for the gospel series was a blue-green color, sometimes leaning more to green and other times leaning more to blue. The gospel LPs tended toward a blue label. My matrix number is the same that the mona release : LH-4693 LH-4694 Matrix on others Jewel release is SL-1440. Drew3 Posted April 5, 2019 Share Posted April 5, 2019 Recently bought the light green Jewel (no logo) of this and did a little research before buying and like the thread starter found evidence of this on a yellow Mona lable. Also, like Stefan in 2009 I couldn't find any information/statements regarding the Mona issue which definatively confirms that Mona is the origional. I guess it must be but trawling the Net, I couldn't find any reference to a Mona copy being sold! Loads on Jewel for sale on SS over the years, no one refers to the Jewel as a reissue, lots of people refer to playing it at various soul events, including big events abroad which I would have thought would be OVO events!!!! One earlier poster stated that they had the Mona on a dark blue label!!!! So, ten years on, is there any more info regarding the Mona issue; rarity, value, last one anyone seen sold? Regards. Drew. I don't think i've seen anyone mention that the fonts used on the Mona & first Jewel release are identical and I don't think this font matches any font used on any other Jewel or devotional releases. I guess as Peppermint Harris is from Texas, that could be where the connection was formed and as he was signed to Jewel records, this could have been released as a favour to him or part of his deal. The Houston Records pressing plant matrix on the MONA release, "LH-4693" and "LH-4694", places it as being a mid-to-late 1968 release.
