  1. Hi all

My Friend Kelly's mum has just contacted me looking for someone to put on a Northern Soul night at her pub in Farnworth near Bolton. It's a newly renovated pub called the Kings arms hotel. Whoever takes it on would need to bring their own equipment (decks and Sound system).

PM me at john.timlin@booz.com and I'll give you the contact details and you can sort out fees, dates etc. with the landlady directly. Could be a nice little regular gig for the right person

    Cheers

    Johnny

  3. Calling all Soulboys and Gals

This is a quick post to let you all know about the Vintage at Goodwood Festival that I'm Dj'ing at in August (13-15th). It's gonna be a stunning, glamorous non-welly-wearing mud-free cultural event with real dance floors and incredible stage sets, that as well as music has great art, design , fashion shows, cinema and much much more. The accommodation ranges from posh caravans to Glamping (very posh tents indeed) and the location is absolutely stunning. There will be several venues /stages with music ranging from the 1940's all the way up to the 1980's encompassing all the wonderful club culture and fashion in between. Oh and an authentic Roller Disco to boot!

I'm playing on the SOUL CASINO stage and will be joined by legendary acts that include Joe Bataan, Leroy Hutson, the Wailers and plenty more to be confirmed. Lots of famous names and faces from the Soul, Northern Soul, Reggae, Boogie, Jazz Funk and Modern Soul scene are set to grace the wheels of steel... A small taster includes the likes of Chris Hill (Goldmine, Lacy Lady), Norman Jay, Joey Negro, Greg Wilson, Les Spaine and Ady Croasdell from the longest running Northern Soul all-nighter in history (6t's)

Our stage will have 3 main themes throughout the weekend...

Friday Reggae with a lush line up including Don Letts, Two-Tone memories from the Beat, Gaz's Rockin' Blues and ska from original mod dj Dr. Bob Jones

Saturday Funk starring The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show, and not forgetting the one and only Marshall Chess spinning gems from his family vaults, this is definitely one for the memories book

Sunday Soul... Introducing the delicious sounds of Chris Bangs. Ian Dewhirst, Keb Darge, Vintage head honcho Wayne Hemingway and many more super-duper spinners

However, this is not all about music, you will experience the biggest vintage market on the planet for all your fashion and vinyl needs. Plus many wild and wonderful attractions that will blow your mind. There will be cool cars, proper bars and restaurants and an unprecedented attention to detail throughout.

So slip on those dancing shoes and make sure you're part of this unique never been done before event

    Keep the Faith

    Keep the change

  4. I thought it was very poor gesture......

Motown deserved better was just one of the reviews I read this morning, and I must say I agreed. Martin Freeman, nice guy though he is, did his best bless him.... I thought he was useless at interviewing, he seemed to have his crib-sheet memorised and was waiting for his turn to talk rather than listening and reacting to the answers given. On the other hand I have always loved TEARS OF A CLOWN so I enjoyed that micro-moment...

    Final impression... piss poor

All in all I think if your not gonna give it 200% effort (in everything: research, presentation, content, final editing etc.) then you should be have the common decency to leave it alone. Don't bother next time Mr. BBC

"Martin what have you learned from this?".........."Eeeerm, I like this music"... F_cking brilliant, Well done! See ya later.

That's just my humble opinion for what it's worth
