  3. You mean Mark Webb who went doon under, i speak to him every now and then, he came to Barrowby & Skeggy last time he was here. Wocko cannot remember what he did yesterday never mind the 70,s Roy doesn't speak to me anymore, he,s moved on now to another mate, you will know him as Grantham No1 DJ, to us mortals he is just called Mick Johnson
  4. Your life ain't worth diddly squat Webby ?? do you mean sinbad ??
  5. Was talking to Biz a few weeks ago and he told me a few good stories about Tony,s house by the church and what went on there
  6. Of course he was!!! forgot about Paul, bought some records off him recently and when i paid i told him i was from Grantham and didn't get a reply think he wants to move on heard some stories ages ago of his younger life coff coff

  8. I used to have some of Mick Webbs stuff, got a wdj of Dana Valery with "Lewi from runcorn" scratched in run out, got it off Kev Cox ages ago, thing is i used to meet with Lewi at the Patton arms Warrington on way to Wigan to errrrr swap things etc Kev said he bought it at the 100 club years ago. Ian.
  9. Holy mother of ..... didn't realise the big T was from town ??? Big bad Barry is a Notts boy originally mate so don't think he will have any info on the 70,s in town. Loz seems to remember Willie mac & Roger Burin (?) doing soul nights and mobiles around the 70,s I only moved here in 1994 so my knowledge is limited to what Neil Olive & DR have told me, i used to go round Neils house and we would talk for hours & hours on the scenes early days in & around Grantham, Neil would make the coffee,s and i always took a packet of biscuits to munch on , strangely Neil left the scene and doesn't want to talk about it to anyone (well not me anyway) Still have some good converstions with Dave Raistrick about his early days here too. Ian.
  10. Neil Olive & Dave Raistrick spring to mind, both have excellent collections of original vinyl and this was well before the days of CD's & vinyl carvers although acetates were around they seemed harder to get then carvers are today
  11. My ex lodger stood on 2 records last year, one of them was an ex+ Okeh issue of the 7 souls other was a £30 cheapie note the words ex lodger Ian.

    £347 Ian.
  14. think he means there are 3 mixes on 12" !! I have seen tons of these, not rare at all. Ian.
  15. kin awfull run of the mill dross imho of course somebody tell me whats special about it !!! Ian.
  16. a very respected dealer/DJ told me about 2 years ago he had seen one but was told to keep very qt about it but was finding it hard to do so ( probably why he told me after a day,s drinking) by all the averages you would think if they did excist one would have turned up by now or at least whoever owns one would have revealed it to the waiting world.....but don't hold ya breath Ian.
  17. Betty Wright sells for around £100/130 on 7" pic sleeve, i bought a mint/mint copy for a ton a while back and thought that dear £5K+ for Jimmy Burns is way way too much, thought £2K about right for that these days Chico L a great record but never thought it that rare Ian.
  18. Would imagine there are a few alt takes as most recordings got back then and still do ! My demo & sleeve are framed up with an autographed pic y !! So what about all these rumours of 2 stock copies about to be revealed to the world Ian.
  19. Mines an issue guy,s , i want a demo Ian.
  20. Anyone want to swap a ex copy of above on issue for a demo ? Issue supposed to be harder ??? scan on request. Thanks, Ian.
  21. I have an acetate well dubplate with a version on but just says H H on the label, will have to check if this is same as the CD version done by H H or the Nate Adams !!! Also have a WDJ of Sam Williams & the double LP by The Ohio players, all good versions imho. Ian.
  22. I was talking to Ritchie Pitts a while back and he told me both bands managers were friends and spoke a lot. One of the conversations was about "I,m gonna change", the 4 seasons had recorded it but their manager didn't think it suitable for a 45 release so asked his oppo if the Velours wanted to try there luck with it, they recorded it and it got a 45 release. Still not convinced with it the 4 seasons manager decided to just stick it the "New gold hits" LP as a filler . As an old Wigan boy it has to be the 4 seasons every time for me Ian.
  23. check if yours has any other markings that could have been covered, some copies did have the name scratched in by themselves to fool folk too !! if it has the record No as in 6311a, then it,s a bootleg, the original just had in 6311 looking at yours it looks real and a 1st issue meaning it,s worth £300+ Of course i could be wrong as well , looks good though. Ian.
