In that case wouldn't the Casino have been further to the left than Debenhams?
Think you are right
based on my attempts at working it out above
-
Blunny check the aerial shot off the Town Centre at the bottom of the page where you can clearly see the Casino site on Station Road
Yeh, you can clearly see it there. It's a bit awkward lining it all up as it's a slanted panoramic view. However, just found this old map view......
Now its from 1938, but you can clearly see Station Road, the "Cinema". The "Hall" just below it is what would become the Casino. The river Dougie is to the right of the old Station. If I line all them up as near as damn it with the google map at close to the same size then the the Casino door was where the EE Mobile shop is now. Give or take, lol.
It also looks like the floorway of the arcade follows the exact line of the old Station Road too.

The general guesstimate is that the door of the Casino was in the back end of Debenhams but it's difficult to pinpoint exactly.
I used to work at the college and remember seeing an old aerial photo of Wigan taken during the 70's which had the Casino on. It would be interesting to try to overlay that now onto a google maps aerial at the same scale.
Might see if I can track some ex-collegues down to see if they know where it is.

Wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last that any of us joyfully bellow the wrong words to a song
Very true
And you never know, the musicians in the studio could have given him a puzzled look and thought, "What the hells he on about" ,
-
I still don't understand what that instruction would mean. "two bars a line" Sorry.
Just a suggestion of what I thought it might be, quite possibly doesn't make sense.
-
what would that mean..?
Assume as in music... Two Bar, Double Bar, etc.
-
Think it's just ... "Give Me Two Bars A Line...Baby It's R & B Time"

Aren't final value fees calculated at point of sale (ie. when auction finishes) ?
Assume they will cater for multiple item postage discounts?
Otherwise the fee will be based on FULL postage for that one item at point f sale even though a discount may be applied later due to multiple purchases being sent to same buyer.

The 3 before 8 thing was in early wigan days but did it not become the 5?
Brenda Holloway when im gone?
Barbara Mcneir Youre gonna love my baby?
anyone confirm?
My fuzzy memory's telling me it was The Carstairs - It Really Hurts Me followed by Gerri Granger - I Go To Pieces then the 3 befoe 8? Can't remember when this trend started though.
-
Two I've finished with in the past......
Rhythm Rascals - Why Do You Have To Go

The Up & Over Club.
On the soul side it's a well known 60's classic by Jay Traynor and on the Garage side, well, it's a door!!
I like it but obviously the Garage side needs a little more thought behind it.
It's hard this, innit?
-
Be careful with the 70's boots. A lot of them were pressed off-centre and of course need sme special adjustments to an adapter to sort out. Otherwise it sounds all whirry, lol.

Sorry to hear about you losing your job mate - must be a huge worry.
I hope yer get some decent prices for yer records and that you get some work sorted soon.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Many thanks.
It is a bit of a worry but I'm hoping it's a case of 'One Door Closes Another One Opens" as they say. It's just when you've been somewhere for so long, you feel a little bit lost as to what to expect and what to do.
Best wishes to you,
Martin.

That's right. Think the complaints came from the general belief that it was located somewhere in Debenhams. The EE shop is the next to last shop on the left just before Debenhams.
