also noticed 2 different cuts. one with the words "come on here Jack and blow" right before the sax solo. Anyone know which cut is on the original soundville copy?
That's also on the SoulTown copies aswell.

R & B Time - E.Rodney Jones.... full blast.
Frightens the living daylights out of everyone on the bus, including me
-
I have an issue without the artist credit and I believe the one for sale on John Manships site is also the same by the looks of the picture he has. Just in case it's a rarer variation

There's a good group of youngsters (mid-late teens, early 20's) developing up and around the Wigan area. They've even managed to get themselves a venue and event sorted out.
Check it out in the events calendar.....
According to their facebook page, there looks to be a good attendance in the offing.

ebay actually takes a percentage of the shipping costs now too btw.
No, I hadn't realised this!! Blimey, what with Paypal's chunk out of the amount aswell, it'll be a wonder if there's enough left to actually post the bleeding thing
-
just add the difference to the start price when you list it
Call me synical bugger if you wish but I reckon this is why Ebay have imposed the maximum postal charge. Any seller who adds to the price of the item in this way will undoubtably incur additional charges from Ebay. Either in the initial Listing Fee or the Final Value Fee or both. Crafty buggers Ebay eh?
I suppose the other thing with this is that in an auction, adding extra to the initial starting price doesn't mean the finishing price would be any higher than if it were started lower. So seller loses out again.

It does look good but that little red spot above the 'O' of JOKER would have to knock a ton off
-
does the boot have good sound qaulity ,
Dunno about the yellow boot but the black boot was good quality on both sides. Pretty sure it was a vinyl press. It was also booted on blue aswell which was styrene and had a slight "whirrr" on the pianola intro, as if it was pressed slightly off centre.
Oh, and if I had £698 going spare, I;d pay it for a minter.
-
Just to add. If it is that, then it was on the LP "Are You Ready For This" on Imperial label. Don't know if it was released on 7" 45.
It also appears that the album was remastered and released on CD in 2005.
-
Sounds like a version of Jackie DeShannon - Love Is Leading Me. Might actually be that but the sound quality on my little ole laptop makes it sound different.
Here's a youtube link....

I remember bidding on one at least 3 years ago which had been listed incorrectly in the wrong category. Unfortuately it was found by others and eventually went for somewhere in the region of £1100. Way above my fiver bid
Always thought it was a highly prized record in decent condition.

There is This

and this

dont know if ones a bot
I have had a copy of the second one there. Which is the vinyl copy and as Bri said above it is ARP stamped in the runout. Never had one of the other styrene ones so can't comment on that.
There is also the star design label with arched constellation which I'm led to believe is the rarer design. Never had one unfortunately.

They're all drunks using the OG as in Original Gravity of fermented alcohol
-
Always thought this had a Motown feel running through it....
Flirtations - Change My Darkness Into Light.
-
Just a quickie question.
Is the UK Sevens release the only way to own "Eddie Holman - Where I'm Not Wanted" on vinyl?
Ta for any info.

I'd hazard a guess the Yvonne Baker/Dee Dee Sharp's are being raised by shill bidding. Imagine they got 10 or 20 of 'em to sell, bump one or two up in price and then hope that a few unsuspecting punters buy their next listings for £9.99 or whatever they list 'em at.
Put it this way, if I put one of them up at a start price of 99p, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't get much more than a quid for it.

There appears to be quite a lot of posts, on this page in particular, that are laying the blame for this on the punters. By using the excuse that they don't care. It isn't the punters that play the records or organise the event. If there's blame to be attached to it, it lies firmly at the feet of the promoters and dj's. Regardless of what the punters want to dance to, it is the dj that spins the record (or puts the cd on or even double-clicks the mp3
). And it is the promoter that encourages thus.
So let's not start knocking the unsuspecting punters for creating this situation, who are afterall, just out for a good night.
I reckon we'll have to face it.
There will never be a resolution.
As long as people can buy the big tunes for pennies they will continue to put on, imo, substandard events to cash in on the nostalgia scene.

Unfortunately, you are correct with this Tony.

I have dj'd as a regular at Orrell Soul Club for the last 2 years and as a guest at a number of other North West venues and always play original records.
I would never buy anything else other than an original record. There are 1000's and 1,000's of original records out there that I will never own but fortunately, I know of the Dj's that do own them and will pay the door charge to support them and the venues they play at.
Isn't the real issue about the playing of boots at venues more a case of whether the promoter or DJ's knowingly do it with the intention of attracting unsuspecting punters to their venue for financial reasons? And the knock-on effects that it has for other venues that don't?
Don't shoot me, it's only a question!!!

Yes, as some of you already know, after 33 years continuous service I am to become another victim of the current economic decline. Family circumstances at the moment, dictate that things might be a bit difficult for a while, so I'm gonna have to sell a few out of my collection to tide things over when I finish. Otherwise it's sit outside venues with the begging bowl and be moidering you all, so it's much better for all of us this way
They're all originals with decent starting prices and in great condition, so please have a look and if you're a compassionate person with plenty money to spare, you're welcome to bid sky high
