  1. Wow... So who' owns all the photos sent in to soul source over the years? Have any ever been sold for money? Ed
  2. A long shot... He did a version of dust my broom...but I can't see that getting many spins. Ed

Would be great to have re runs of soul train and such like. I guess it's all about how much advertising revenue somebody can pull in. Ed
  4. Ain't that a lot of love? Same as homer banks... A famous copy doing the rounds in the 70s was an LP somebody cut down to make a 7 inch version. Ed
  5. That sure is a whole lot of soul and funk. Anybody know if any of the releases are new material? Ed
  6. I hope so because this is magnificent.. Ed
  7. More sad news:( RIP John. Always loved this as a young un. Ed
  8. I would have thought gospel songs could date back a long long time, and possibly difficult to find original writers? There is also the flip side where a gospel tune is derived from a pop tune, ' showdown' for example. Many soul singers did originate in gospel church choirs, so no doubt brought musical ideas from that into their song writing. Good topic! Ed
  9. Indeed a sublime voice and a go to record when you need a boost of feel good soul. Glad she knows how much high esteem she is held in over here. Ed

Glad to see Gwen going down well. Class is permanent. Ed
  11. I can see this being moved.....since most on here would be pre ' decent' record releases on the day they were born. Take me for example: 1961 - October 5 Neil Sedaka records "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen", which will become his eighth US Top 20 hit. He will go on to have thirteen more. October 5 As a follow up to their US number one smash, "Blue Moon", The Marcels release a similar sounding tune called "Heartaches", which will climb to number seven on the US Pop chart. Not got either of them:) Ed
  12. Great story... So Archie Bell and Billy Butler got all the royalties for tighten up...even though the tornadoes created the tune. No wonder dog eat dog was an appropriate a side to the original release. Ed
  13. Loved seeing her at Skeggy a couple of years ago. Felt like I was 14 again at the Assembly rooms rovrum. Glad she is still out there singing her songs. Ed
  14. Amazing then how 3 more records on Dade were by the Swans, and only one by the Twans. The World At Night? or Twan. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.Twan is a Dutch masculine given name. It is a phonetic spelling of "Toine", short for "Antoine", the French form of Anthony/Antonius If somebody knows for sure.....fine..... Just looking for possible reasons why similar sounding names do not necessarily link them. Ed
  15. A lovely story paying tribute to an amazingly talented soul singer and actress. RIP and know the songs are timeless. Mr Creator must be in everybody's favourite list. Lock me in your heart and throw the key away, one of mine! Ed
  16. Dwarf is the singular and dwarves is the plural. Might it be dwarfs is a typo? And they are the same group. A bit like there's no such group as the Twans, just a printing error for the Swans. Ed
  17. There no attempt of soul in Stop Girl as it's a rock song..... TMOAGT at least tries harmony....ive always liked it. The 'other ' Arctic/Atlantic Ambassadors should have sung it, and I'm sure it would have been perfect! Ed
  18. If you look closely at about 1 minute in the seller pulls out the tempests LP......but the piss takers think it's the temprees and has no value. He then says he knows Scott Breedon, but ' doesn't want to discuss Major Lance ...okeh! He sold all his RCA white demos to Arfur Fenn the day before... Every video tells a story:) Ed
  19. We were lucky it was a sunny windless day... The crane can slowly rotate the 'table' so you get a 360 degree view of London from the 02 location. Indeed you are encouraged to use the bathroom before you start the journey... About an hour start to finish. No doubt every time produces a different experience. The kids organised it...how our roles are reversing:) Ed
  20. Or go for this...:) Ed
  21. Definitely felt like Lucy in the Sky with diamonds after the 4th cocktail.. Ed
  22. There must be more than one gig if it's a tour? Ed
  23. Sad news RIP. This track seems to have become a must play item, and I never tire of it. Ed
