  1. A lot of people will have both. Don't forget Sebastian that in the UK the initial "Northern" batch played were UK releases in the main hence the attachment to them. ROD
  2. I think Ady that it might be an idea to get a track and instead of playing [or hammering] it first yourself, you do a simultaneous general release. Obviously timing would be something you'd have to get right but first play at 100 club and then you announce now in shops from tonight. It is then something fresh and exciting that maybe more people would rush out to buy and play out than something they'd heard for past 12 months ? ROD
  3. Got mine the other day. Just played and a couple have very slight warps but overall they're OK. However track choices seem a bit lacklustre. Three tracks I think I have on orig vinyl albeit not 45s. And much better tracks surely available. I'd like to see Monitors "Crying in the night" for one. And double-sided Kim Weston "Fancy meeting you here/Just call me." ROD
  4. To be fair he appears to be Danish and is just parroting something he misheard. Budgies = budget = cheapies not cheepies ROD
  5. All 45s are US originals unless stated. All are VG++ to M- unless stated. VG+ is still a nice 45. Graded under strong lights. And of course happy to refund where buyer unhappy. Please PM to reserve Finally I don't normally sell UK so finding harder to grade than US. I'd say most are VG++ [EX] in that marks are hard to spot . Some are nearly Mint. VG+ means you can see marks but they're usually few and light. Don't mind doing scans and of course anyone not happy can return. Look nice to me though. Thanks ROD
  6. Kould have been worse. ROD
  7. Im selling for my good friend Scal on here. He's an imbecile. Hence my involvement. Before members start getting too worried I'd just point out that the £25 figure was suggested by Pete and is not site policy. As Mike has said he's looking at it as an additional source of revenue to keep this site running well into the future. ROD
  8. I do remove comments from ads sometimes and then get accused of censorship by the poster. This is just an opportunity to get the message out that comments in LAYB are fine. As it actually states in the sales guidelines. ROD
  9. As long as sellers stick within these rules then it's up to them if they want to re-list at same price for next twenty years. However, there is no need for Sutty or others to keep their traps shut. Whilst it is not allowed to post detrimental posts on actual ads you can come on here and draw attention to inflated prices just as you would do with an EBay sale. ROD
  10. Different songs aren't they ?
  11. A hundred and twelve posts of pain.
  12. Morse ? Sweet Broken heart attack ?
  13. Easier to read now and no price on your Bogen Richard. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  14. Are you having a problem editing ad ? If you read the guidelines you will see that adding extra posts to say SOLD or ON HOLD is "bumping" your ad. Allowed first post as you were asking for offers. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  15. I don't think it's a pop record. Sounds black to me. Just the beginning reminds me of those mindless poppy Wigan instrumentals. Not keen on that constant clapping effect either really. My prime was 8.15am November 17 1984. You should have asked me then. Been downhill since. ROD
  16. Its not often I get the chance to agree completely with Steve G, so a childish high five down to his Ivory tower in Londinium, since he is completely correct. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Steve G and having got that out the way I can now stick the boot in. He is utterly wrong and to prove the point I'm from the North and I'm pretty sure that at no time have I been involved in the "Cheshunt Soul" scene. Sure Godin considered the name but on balance decided against. I didn't know it was blue-eyed. Is it ? ROD
  17. Not that odd, Nev. If it was 3am outside Radcliffe by now we'd be onto the flying saucer some guy once saw when speeding back from first time he heard Joe Matthews. In my experience conversations tend to turn random on this scene. ROD
  18. Rather than three separate ads better to put all in one with one link to all. Ads are limited to 2 per day. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  19. Ah Greg but who decides which scene those tunes fit. For me the rare soul scene is the junk pile as it covers such a wide gamut a lot of which is IMO poor. Tommy Dent goes in there as it starts off like some mindless Wigan pop instrumental before getting admittedly a little more interesting but ultimately lacking a Northern sensibility. United Sounds on other hand has all the hallmarks of great Northern. Yes it's called crossover but to me just midtempo Northern with all the ingredients for listening and dancing. Big mistake I think to write off Northern as some solely oldies market. It's not, it's a continuous line from Tami Lynn to say Elevations on Rubbertown. For a Northern do I'd say Grumpy Soul is a good example. Different styles but they share the original template. ROD
  20. I find myself agreeing with both camps but want to say "yes but..." to each point made on either side. But then you're getting into the minutae and this programme didn't have the time to go into all that. ROD
  21. It's obvious records are meant for putting in order and looking at now and again. Otherwise why would artists or labels all start with a different letter of the alphabet and why would they fit so handily into a record box or on a shelf. I rest my carver-less case ROD
  22. Locking this now. Some of the posts have been helpful but others have veered off . El Coral, yours is just general observation and maybe better as a topic in AATS. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  23. Yes I got a copy from Larry Ray in Detroit around 89/90. Sold it to Richard. Another step in my purpose to completely undermine the modern scene. ROD
