  1. Hydro Soul Club December 26th. See you there. We are not able to run on our normal 4th Saturday as other venue has taken up that date. Don't forget to bring photo I/D which should be produced and shown at the site security gate. Thank you. £3 on the door. Doors open 7 p.m. Guest DJ for this one is Kev Sowerby. Residents: Kev Richardson & Mick Boyes. Soul music played with a passion for those who are passionate about dance music. How do we progress forward after the massive show of appreciation from last month? That is in the hands of you guys who keep lifting the atmosphere. Any questions, message on here or FB, Kev Richardson.
  2. See you at the weekend. Looking forward to another selected venue that is free of anything on the modern side of things. Hope it hasn't spoiled those boyish good looks of yours Alan. See ya Satdi.
  3. We have Mick Grimes also joining us on the decks for this month as Mick Boyes is not able to be with us this month due to family commitments. So you there.
  4. Guest DJ: this month is Danny Paton. (Danny is unable to join us this month he has been replaced with an equally capable spinner Pete Noble) Obviously as a fellow promoter, what Danny brings along in terms of experience is something I don't need to magnify but the following plaudit came from someone who knows the Hydro Venue well and also knows what Danny is capable of. From Steve Jones: Danny Paton is one of my favourite people on the current soul scene today, it's a real treat to have him guesting at Hydro Soul Club. He's a top rated DJ and plays regular spots across the Wigan area including the Swinton nighter. He also runs a cracking club called the Horwich RMI which is always worth the 2hr+ drive. And if you've a keen eye you'll spot him in the northern soul film alongside the likes of Jordan Wilson & Dave Stabler. His enthusiasm for the music he plays is second to none, proper, all original, uptempo, freshly rediscovered. I hope everyone makes him feel welcome, I can't wait..
  5. Feedback on FB from last months Hydro soul night: From Doug Hall: Thankyou for a great night 1st time and worth the 130 miles just to see Kev and company in my home county. Great crowd with some fab music played Born and bred from Durham county Nice to get back home. We thank you all. From Mike Ward: Hi Kev/Mick ...thanks for invite.... thoroughly enjoyed the nite with some really nice peeps at what must surely be one of the NE's most atmospheric Club's that's just made for dancing. Hope 2 c u soon. From Jo Knight: First time for me and really loved it . From Phil Varley: Had another great night at the Mighty Hydro soul club, a full away team representing KSC, always the best of company from our friends from the North! A great friend of KSC was guest DJ, Mike Ward, take a bow sir, a cracking spot! Usual masterclass from Mick Boyes spinning tunes for all tastes, and Kev Richardson hitting the “rev limiter” with his spots keeping the home crowd “on the floor”. Till next time... From Paul Bodman: great night, thanks for the great music , never stopped from getting in the door to leaving.
  6. Saturday 23rd November. Hydro Soul Club, based in the Inovyn/Ineos works site on School Aycliffe Lane, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6EA. We were again blessed with an excellent turnout last month. The floor was kept busy and the people who took to the floor were given plenty to interest them. The play list covered top 500 favs as well as underplayed and uptempo tunes along with a few mid paced floaters as and when required. This month we have Middlesbrough's Pete Noble as guest DJ alongside Chester le Streets Mick Grimes. (Danny Paton unable to join us this month). The new company requirement for our guests to show I/D at the security gate as they enter the works site is now well established and in full operation, so don't forget to bring some I/D to show at the security gate. Once through the gate continue straight on for about 50 yards then turn left into the large car park. The venue is in the bottom south west corner of the car park. Soul music played with a passion for people who are passionate about soul music. We may be small but we pack a punch. Doors open 7p.m. £3 on the door. Resident Dj's Kev Richardson & Mick Boyes. (unable to join us this month due to family commitment).
  7. Have a good night Carl. We will be travelling down next month, all being well. Five saturdays next month so we don't clash.

    Hydro Soul Club

Anyone who may be coming this weekend, bring photo i/d. Report to the gate house with i/d. I've already got several requests to play on Saturday and I've added one to the box for this month too. Kev

Cheers Carl. We should be travelling down to Kingsway Hall at the end of November. See you then.

4TH Saturday in the month, 26th October. HYDRO SOUL CLUB, School Aycliffe Lane, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, DL5 6EA. The road works have been completed and access to the venue is now back to normal. (Well apart from the new company requirement for our guests to show I/D at the security gate as they enter the works site, but other wise business as usual.) Now the hard work starts because we have to try to achieve the standards that we have set for ourselves, following on from last months visit of Pete Everett. The feedback has been absolutely stimulating over the past few months and that is credit to the people who have created the atmosphere. The play list throughout last months gig that would have graced any dance venue. "Come On Hydro Lets Get Hot & Sweaty". This months guest DJ is Mike Ward "Huntingdon Soul Club". I think this will be Mike's 3rd visit so obviously he has something to offer that our regulars appreciate. Residents, Kev Richardson & Mick Boyes.
  11. With Pete Everett's experience and knowledge the night was set up nicely. Doors opened at 6.30 p.m as there were roadworks and diversions in place, which we knew would cause problems for people travelling to the venue. The choice to open early proved to be the right one. I opened the music up at 6.35 with several early motown tracks, volume lowered because I thought people would be settling in but oh no, pump up the volume Kev as 15 or so early birds wanted to dance. Mick Boyes came onto the decks at 6.45 p.m and lifted the pace for 90 minutes while I was checking out the diversion signs near to the venue. The night just got better and better. I did 30 minutes before Pete came on and lifted things further with a blinding choice of sounds during his first 45 minute spot. His second spot later in the night was full of well known and underplayed dance tunes, absolutely superb choices my friend. From 6.30 p.m until 00.45 a.m the floor was never empty. The feedback has been exceptional. Come on Hydro lets get hot and sweaty. See you all next month. Don't miss it. Our December gig is booked in for Boxing night. Don't stuff your faces with ket coz your going to have do some serious dancing to get rid of it.
  12. The doors will be open from 18.30 on Saturday night. I'm uncertain as to how the road works have progressed this week as some of the periods of work have been a wash out. But it's a Hydro Soul Club night. Soul music being played with a passion for people passionate about soul music.
  13. Listen up folks, important information. HYDRO SOUL CLUB SAT 28TH SEPT. The County Council have at last decided to go ahead with the road works on School Aycliffe Lane and this will mean disruption to anyone using the road during the last week in this month, September. This will include over night road closures from 19:00 hrs on three or four nights during this period. And, you have guessed it, from 19:00 on Sat Sept 28th the access to the east end of School Aycliffe lane will be closed off from Preston Road (the railway bridge end of the road). As of 19:00 hrs there will be a diversion taking anyone who wants to access Heighington and School Aycliffe, (Including Hydro Soul Club) through Aycliffe trading estate. Access to ineos will only be available from the Heighington/School Aycliffe roundabout i.e the west approach. So if your coming to Ineos (Hydro Soul Club) early, you should be allowed access through your normal route but after 19:00 hrs, including return Taxis later in the night, you will have to come via the diverted route. Anyone travelling the A1, from either North or South direction, should exit at J58 (not J59). Your Sat Nav will bring you into Ineos via School Aycliffe. The diversion from Preston Road will probably add four mile to your journey if you're coming from Aycliffe and surrounding areas. If anyone would like any further details please contact me and I will endeavour to give you directions if you need them.
  14. Based in the North East, Newton Aycliffe, Land of the Prince Bishops, Durham. Newton Aycliffe, School Aycliffe lane, DL5 6EA. 18 yrs of experience and still going strong. Soul music played with a passion for people who are passionate about soul music. It gets Hot and sweaty here. £3 O.T.D. This month we have PETE EVERETT joining us again. This is Pete's 3rd visit, obviously he is well regarded, hence his return visits. Residents: Kev Richardson & Mick Boyes Please bring along some form of photo i/d as there are new access restrictions to the site. Unfortunately the social club is based on the Ineos/Inovyn works site which means we have to abide by the new regulations. (you may be required to stop at the security gate and provide photo I'D for everyone in the car). We are working to overcome this draconian restriction for social club visitors but the conversation are still ongoing).
  15. I have the track on a Kent album Alan but I don't think it would be fit in with the OVO rule for the Macclesfield gig. I'll keep it in reserve for when your next at Hydro. There will be plenty in my box of that I can guarantee.
