Guest Andy503 Posted April 17, 2017 Really looking forward to attending Hydro this coming weekend. It is undoubtedly one of the best soul dances in the North East with a friendly atmosphere and DJs playing great soul records, mixing rarities and songs which fill the dancefloor to good effect. Kev Richardson 176 Posted April 23, 2017 HYDRO SOUL CLUB What can I say about last night I just don't have enough words in my vocabulary to discribe the atmosphere our crowd created. The response to Carl Piper, who was made very welcome by one and all, was very much appreciated by myself and carl was blown away. I am not nieve enough or arrogant enough to believe that the music we put out throughout last night was to everyones taste. We are all getting older and some don't want to be bombarded by uptempo dance tunes one after another but you don't have to dance to all of them. When I put a record on I watch the room, not just the dance floor, as I am looking for whether people are interested or not. There were a lot of positive comments last night and some have already gone to print this morning on FB but I fully appreciate that there will be negatives also, but not for me, the night, in my humble opinion, was a blinding success and an endorsment for the music we put out there last night and that is in full, thanks to the people who turned out. The dance floor was busy by 7:45 pm and continued to be so for most of the night. The intoduction of grass roots mid sixties sounds which includes Wilson Picket, Arthur Conley, Aretha Franklin.Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, has in most parts been accepted by many of those attending our recent soul nights(not your classic Northern Soul or Top 500 sounds), but sounds that were there at the start of this fantastic music genre. If you were there last night you will understand where Im coming from because you all played your part in a more than memorable night for me, Ann Mick & Shirley. Link to comment
Kev Richardson 176 Posted April 23, 2017 Hydro Soul Club - Our anniversary night is May 27th. I know we didn't get tickets out to everyone who attended last night so if you want one please message me and I will put them on the door or get them to you prior to the night.
